I've been looking at the forums, and I have seen only a few posts on this topic, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents. The Greek nation is in serious need of an overhaul, not just a buff to their current attributes, but a COMPLETE overhaul.
The Greeks compared to other nations have abysmal nation abilities. I'll first address the perk of allowing the Greeks to finish a building or upgrade earlier for free. While in the early ages this might be somewhat useful, in later ages such as the gunpowder age and even the medieval age the perk becomes completely useless. As upgrades start to take 2+ days the 30 minute free completion period loses its value entirely as it requires someone to be extremely meticulous when they upgrade things. Then there is the perk of receiving a 5% refund to a completed upgrade, while this may sound nice, this attribute only kicks in after an upgrade is completed, which again could take DAYS, and the reward is lackluster at the absolute best.
Then there is the fact that the Greek attributes are not timeless unlike all of the other nations, at some point the Greek attributes will become null and void, such as at the end of an age after maxing out when there is nothing more to upgrade. There is no endgame for the Greeks, so with that being said I have some suggestions for new Greek nation abilities.
The Greeks were originally a region made up of city-states, so it would make sense if they had an ability attributing to patronage. First, anyone playing as the Greeks who makes a complete troop donation to an alliance member will receive a free trade good shipment upon doing so. Secondly, since the Greeks were a nation of great philosophers and intellects as well as architects, they should have a reduced time of training Generals and tactics by a factor of anywhere between 25 and 50%. These abilities would be historically accurate, fair, and would ensure that the Greeks had an endgame. Instead of Greece being a nation of "Better Architecture" they would be a nation of "Patronage and Intellect."
I hope my suggestion does not fall upon deaf ears as I have been waiting for an update to the Greeks for a while now and nothing has come about. I would hate to see myself switching nations as I have played as the Greeks since I started playing the game and I have grown fond of them. I believe that Greece truly does need a revamping as they really have become irrelevant. This is both unfortunate and ironic as Greece is considered to be the cradle of Western civilization.
