My second war in a row that my targeted opponent started the war at a reasonable level, only to be given a shock when I take a later look and there has been massive upgrades done. This time from lvl 162 to lvl 173 in global age. Maxed air defence, bunkers, garrisons and a stable.

Didn't help him though ... beautiful 5 star victory. Money well spent

Actually I was wrong,. It was all the towers and not the stable. At least I got to see what is waiting for me in global when I eventually get there.

I noticed that the game won't automatically place new buildings on your war base. It could very well be that he already had those upgrades, and edited his warbase when he saw how scary your alliance looked.
