Need to rejoin an alliance, got accidentally kicked off

My friend accidentally kicked me off our alliance. I am trying to join again but it keeps telling me that I need to wait. There is no timer associated with the wait.

How long should I wait before I try to join again? Can I ever join back that alliance? Is this a bug? Please help.

Just confirmed. You can rejoin after a 24 hour period.
