New to the game and finding some problems

I picked up this game y-day and i'm trying to build a road network and sometimes I'm unable to place a roads/walls. Is there certain areas you cannot place roads or something?

you can't place them:
-on or under a building
-in the forest
-on or under a tree
-on or under a rock
-on or under a wall or gate

it must be in a clear "Grass location"

The red circles are areas I want to place roads, the Blue is that the area thats not a ''clear grass location''?

-None of the Red areas should be an issue. I would recommend closing the game and retrying (possibly restart your phone). If that does not work, go into the map editor (the cross of the right had of your screen) and drag and drop a road into that location. let me know if that does not work.
-The blue areas are just textures added by the developer to add realism, you can place any item there.
-bonus note, you can place spikes directly on top of a road, it will be in a more heavily traveled area, and will blend in more.

Thanks Glenn I owe you one, restarted the app and can now place the roads in the locations. I'm also stuck on full resources... is there any specific buildings to spend vast resources quickly?

Well off to assault my walls, trying to maximize food storages to upgrade my barracks asap I raided alot on clash and I sure as hell will on DomiNation, the game just looks and feels better.
