Here, in my humble opinion, are some pretty good ideas for new features proposed by your illustrious servant... Please contribute some of your other favorite new feature request posts or critique/add to these....


Troop formations technology

Would be cool if you had some more tactical choices when deploying troops. One potentially easy way to implement this would be to provide troop formations techs at the library or armory. For instance you could have heavy calvary formations and before war choose to have them "Disperse, charge or cluster (stay in a tight pack)" and the same for other troops. Ranged could have formations with single, double or triple lines...

Control of individual troops or Generals

Wouldn't it be cool if you could select a specific troop during an attack and exert complete control over their activities? The natural choice would be a general. You could tap on one of your generals during an attack and while he or she was selected, you could tap again to set their destination or swipe to lay out a path for them to follow, or maybe tap on a new menu of choices to employ them for specialized tasks. For instance, tapping your general could open a sub-menu with options like....

- morale boost - all troops close to general receive +10% attack bonus
- mission impossible - troops close to general receive a large (+25%) attack bonus for 10 sec and then they die.
- retreat - troops receive +10% defense as they rally back to the general
- forced march - troops close to general receive +10% speed bonus as they move along shared path
- "for love of country" - general and all troops close by receive + 25% attack and speed bonus for 10 sec and then they all die.
- "stand back rabble" - defensive troops are forced to retreat from general for 5 seconds
- covert operations - general and nearby troops stop all attacks and cannot be detected by defensive troops for 5 seconds
- charm offensive - general stops attacking and has 10% chance of subverting nearby troops or generals for 5 seconds

Other ideas?

Since you have the wars on a world map, it would be cool to provide bonus points to alliances which dominate a continent. Could be modeled on risk, more points for larger continents (asia), less for smaller ones (south america). Conquering a continent could be calculated just like overall war victory, team with the most stars / continent. Or some other calculation could be used to allow a different path to victory, for instance stars from all attacks/base could be compiled instead of just the attack with highest stars....

I like the "boom Beach" suggestion .. a massive base to use teamwork on to destroy ... obviously as a npc base it wouldn't have any restrictions to building numbers .. 25 mortars would be a tough nut to crack especially with the 18 tank stables and 30 garrisons loosing troops at you... and then there's the cannon towers and other towers and some massive walls in between all that.

I could have gone for a "Tortoise Formation" for my Roman infantry before upgrading to Praetorian Fusiliers.
I kind of like the idea of civ specific formations.
