Maybe add a religious component... Each religion has bonus... Would be cooler if it was possible to use the ancient religions as well and develop them over time... Pick a Greek god for the Greeks, etc. Kind of like civ 5
I do not feel now is the time to consider adding such a mechanic. In order to do so in a manner fitting its name, it would require considerable overhead of time and resources including balancing. Otherwise an inclusion would be so abstracted as to underwhelm and otherwise do a disservice to gameplay. I could see a religion mechanic being explored for inclusion in DomiNations once it is officially released, but nothing more concrete than that presently given already to-be-included mechanics are still being tinkered for that milestone.
An excellent added point. It's general enough in its naming so as not to imply any one religion over another, and in function could even be interpreted as spiritual as opposed to religious... the latter point likely being why I didn't initially think of the mechanic as religious. (Yes, the building is called a Temple but it's a term I've seen applied to buildings within several religions in practice.)
Firstly, it is completely ignorant to think that it would be implying on religion over another! The idea comes from civ 5 where you choose a religion and enhance it The idea, to avoid people who offend easily over petty things like religion, is to use dead religions like the Greek gods... Adding them to the blessings feature... Almost individualising the available blessings per race... Give some bonuses etc... Structure your citizens belief system... Even tie it in with the happiness idea Granted, it is elaborate but I'm not say add the feature this week... It's an idea for the future.
The naming and construction of religious buildings could lead to a perception of implying one religion over another. I do not think that is happening here, let alone it being the intention, but I can see how someone could. None of the religions represented in Civilization V are "dead" in reality though certainly there are those with more followers than others. The mechanic works well for that game, but I don't see its implementation as analogous necessarily for DomiNations. Just as religion was added to CivV through its first expansion pack, its inclusion could also happenin the future for DN.
