Road Health Bonus

Not a huge issue, but roads connected to defensive buildings increase tc health, but not building health. My understanding is that both should be increased. A clarification would be helpful.

(To be clear, a building connected to the road shows health, when disconnected from the road, the health does not change.)

I think you've been misinformed. According to the 3.0.X Patch Notes;

Connecting buildings to your Town Center with roads also increases the Town Center’s health by a flat amount per building.
