I've seen some bases where people save up the ruins and place them in "strategic?" places.
Why do this?

There is a myth going around if u don't sell ur ruins they will fill up. And u could click on them to get loot kind of like ur farm . As far I know it is nit truth but didn't see nobody confirm it

I thought it was a sure sign of somebody not needing resources. So either spending real dollars or cheating.

I kept mine because I thought they looked cool. How would that be cheating?

Like the other person said, Im keeping it because it looks cool and Im not sure if its intended, but when youve searched a ruin it will show golden to other people. Nothing strategic really, but it could distact the enemy/attacker if you have a lot scattered. So Id suggest keeping it, as well as the golden mines you find when clearing bases unless u need all the spaces

did you use it and then keep it, or keep it unused?
the unused ones are what im talking about

if you keep unused ruins, you can sell them for higher food in the next age, but its not much

if you're in enlightenment age, and you have like 15 unused ruins sitting around, im pretty sure its not for the bling-bling

I did notice that troops walk around them. So, if you'r using them to funnel troops into traps, they might also be useful. For 10k, it's a good investment.

I see no reason to assume those guys are cheating. You hardly get anything from ruins anyway. They don't really have much defensive benefit except perhaps if placed trickily they might affect the pathing of the invaders. I thought at first ruins would be worth a lot more in later ages. It would make sense... Maybe those guys are keeping them in taste of a change like that. Or it could be for the bling. And like someone said up there, they appear unused even if they're used

Like others have said, I keep them for cosmetics...I have them lining the water way. In no way is it cheating and I find it funny how you came to that conclusion.

I kept mine. I don't get anything from mine. I already explored them, but when some one else sees my base it looks unexplored to them (gold). But no, I'm not benefitting from them. Attacking troops do seem to go around them though, so they could potentially be used as a defense to lure them in a different direction.
