I am suggesting shorter time sinks that give players something more to do since we don't have alliance wars yet. Even then you need something to do other than always battle, battle, battle. Even though it's a battle game, lol. Two different ideas for this. First, Politicians. They roam the streets like caravans but you don't upgrade them. Their visuals change with each age. Use them daily with "short temporary buffs" like rallying a strong defense or offense that lasts two hours or extending a peace treaty by one hour or calling for aide packages. Crown bonuses or gold or food also. Maybe they have 30 minute, 1, 2, or 4 hours "build" times. Something to keep people in the game constantly because they want whatever it is. This also can tie up builders so use that to your advantage and players won't seem to notice it takes longer to advance to next age because they get something quickly without spending crowns. Another idea to accomplish this is crafting. Use the trade goods not only for mercenaries, but for making things. Have the blacksmith be able to turn metal into fancy weapon or armor buffs. These buffs can be short time sinks with one use each. They take 3O minutes, 1, 2, 3, 4 hours, etc. Use once in battle. Adds more variety, gives us daily reasons to stay logged in once we hit those weeklong cook times.
