Should I advance?

I am a level 109 currently near max in enlightenment going to advance to industrial. There are a few buildings that are not yet maxed such as, the vault (still at level 1), the roads, 2 stables, 1 garrison, all the towers at gunpowder level, 2 redoubts at gunpowder lvl, my farms and caravans, some library techs and uni techs I don't really care about, Cleo at lvl 7, Alex at lvl 9, Joan and Nobunaga at lvl 10, and finally Napoleon at lvl 6 Should I advance or max?, (I am looking forward to taking advantage of the next discount event)

In our alliance the rule of thumb is when your offense is maxed you are ready to advance. Bottom row of Armory, Merc Camp, Alliance Gate, War Academy, Airstrip, Library and offensive techs.

I think it is subjective. Currently I'm level 131 EA and I don't not feel as though I am ready to jump to IA. There's just a few more buildings, uni & tech I'd like to finish first. Glad I'm not in any hurry...

You say you're currently near max in EA but your stables, a garrison, and numerous towers are still at Gunpowder - not to mention the caravans, roads, etc, ..... care to enlighten us as to what part of your base is near max ??!

Your troops may be at max but don't underestimate the benefit of properly upgraded defence buildings too ..... unless defence isn't your thing then go for it - but I can guarantee you'll be visited a lot !!

i would say no, u need towers at max to fight aganist airplanes,
stables and garrisons are good only when they become releasing tanks and shock troops so u can upgrade them later in IA since if u do it now they will still spawn horses
get the vault to the level it's able to store oil u gonna need the 6k oil storage so much

Seriously though 109 is barely more than maxed Gunpowder, so absolutely don't do it until you get up a little more, especially in the library.

in my alliance we used to suggest people to max the attack and 2/3 of the defenses before even think to advane. We also say not to waste any minute on caravan & farms.
everybody who advanced before doing so had a lot of problems.
Now with the iron stacking problem we are suggesting people to speed up a little, just to have better attack, even if we don't like playing that way

Never advance to your walls are maxed!!! Walls are a vital defense must have stronger walls. If u want I can tell you another great advancing tip

so, as i'm maxing 3 mln walls i should still be at EA? what are your tips? even if you play a lot it take at least 1-2 months to max all 3 mln walls

Funny, 100 is near max gunpowder. Feel free to max, but your rushed base would get booted from good alliances.

Actually, 100 is near max EA if you skip road, farms and caravans

I should say it depends on your goals. Until you reach high level Global Age you will always have someone who will come along and 5 star you. We are a war focused alliance and maximizing offense is our primary goal. In fact there are some things you shouldn't bother upgrading. Don't use heavy tanks? If you upgrade them it will count against you in your war power for no gain in war efficiency. Don't use certain tactics? Same thing.

totally agree with this rule! no matter how much you upgrade your enlightenment defense, your still gonna get flattened by global armies so you might as well advance and get IA toys so you can start the long oil slog towards global...

really!!! lol, i'll never max my walls and dont think its worth it at all. At a certain point wall upgrades dont add a ton of HP and its a major grind to get upgrades once you get to 3 million per wall! so boring!
