Space Age is a historical age, isn't it a future age?

So talking with an ally mate today, I have been a little puzzled, because, I have always assumed Space Age was something like "Empire Earth" game, a future age, not set in present or historical times, that you will have space airships, lasers, etc.

So now that Global Age releases, if it is expected to be WW2-bit of Cold War, I assumed after that there was going to be at least 1 or 2 more ages before Space, that was going to be set in the future...

But that mate pointed me, that Space Age, is probably after Moon 1969 , and the Spacial Race between USA and URSS.

Maybe it's a generation problem, since I have never lived that Space Age, and for me are not anymore at there, the URSS fell, and the NASA has less budget year after year... We don't seem to be interested in it too much anymore. Maybe when we get to Mars it will change, but I will never call this current times as Space Age. :S

Rather Digital or Internet or Communications/Information Age.

So back to question, is Space Age just next after Global, and that's it? Will the game adjust to real historical time, or will it go to future sci-fi themes?

good question Aitor, your right, information age should be next and leave space age for the future, then maybe in the even more distant future we'll have "well-educated age", hopefully one in which people vote for and support intelligent, thoughtful leaders instead of the biggest, loudest morons...

They'll prob rename to Information Age.

But the game is supposed to be only Historical?

I mean, Empire Earth, similar to this one, was historical, but it has then Digital Age, pretty much or current one, and they it added two sci-fi ages, Nano and Space, with cyborgs and etc.

Do you think this game will just adjust to history, or will become sci-fi for future ages in the future?

Pretty much just question is , how many ages will be there be more...

Please no future age... I hope they only go up to present day and let the game die with dignity.

To better understand DomiNations' design I always suggest looking at its predecessor, Rise of Nations, which it heavily borrows from. That game only went up to the Information Age (1969-present) which would probably parallel the Space Age. Similarly its Modern Age (1937-1968) is likely our Global Age. The only futuristic aspect the game incorporated was a future technology library research which I wouldn't mind.

I don't want this game milked to death by incorporating cyborgs and lasers. Nexon recently bought out BHG anyways, and they said other projects would be on the way. I'd rather they package any non-historical stuff into a new game than try to pigeon hole it into DominNations.

Why exclude future age so fast? Is not Civ series having "beyond earth" new branch now (although I feel it is such a waste that alien are just brutal brainless creatures...., it is a shame)
I am a huge fan of cyber punk. One of my favourite writer is Vernor Vinge. I will really be eager to see "bobble" appearing in Dominations, why not?
Anyway, I really recommend you to read his "Marooned in Realtime". I read it for at least five times and I think this one is the greatest sci-fi novel so far.

I'd also be happy for a sci-fi sequel/age and I'm also a big fan of Vinge, favorite book (series) of his for me though is "fire on the deep". Also recommend Iain Banks (culture novels) and Charles Stross (Iron Sunrise) ...

Can't be excluded at all, in fact for that I ask, Empire Earth, a game very similar to this, had two future ages, but i don't know if Rise of Nations had or was just historical...

You mean Beyond Boring? That game is so boring..... Even the characters have no life inside them. How could you possibly play that?

Introducing the Galaxy Age! With futuristic technologies from the future, including mechanical infantry from the future, using futuristic plasma cannons, giant death robots powered by nuclear fission, with futuristic lasers, lightning ball shooters, futuristic nuclear missiles, and hydraulic feet of future technology. You can also upgrade your hunky old airplanes into futuristic fighter jets that can fly into the deep bowels of space. And why not, the Galaxy Age gives a wonder that lets players use the Wormhole Tactic, dragging any buildings into another part of the universe that we see in the future. Futuristic future fun for everyone! Coming soon in the near future!

Yeah, looking at it that way, better if the game keeps just historical.

Who needs all of these funny sounding technologies when semi-intelligent micro-molecular nanomatics are available? This is all that was needed to produce clean, durable, self-repairing, intelligent and (if I may say) rather handsome roads providing access to all planets. Plus, no carbon based life forms. And, soon enough, no more walls to interfere with the free expression of gratitude and praise for the system. What more could you ask for?

If DomiNations wants to be a historical strategy game then it shouldn't be inclined to include the future. The Beyond Earth game you mentioned is a standalone game and not an upgrade from the regular Civ game. Similarly, the Age of Empires series has a spinoff called Age of Mythology. I wouldn't mind a separate futuristic game by BHG but having anything like that tie into Dominations is silly.

Personally I've never been a fan of strategies set in the future, which is why I always preferred AoE, Cossacks, or Rise of Nations to games like StarCraft. There's plenty of strategy games set in the future or in fantasy already in the AppStore and I wouldn't want to tarnish one of the few historical games with such things.

This idea is terrible. You didn't say future enough to convince anybody.

I would agree Space age probably takes place 1960's- 1980's.

Right now in 2016 we are in the Mobile Gaming Age
