I recently acquired the splash damage for the mk tanks. My question is whether this splash damage applies only for your own offensive tanks or does it also work for the bunker defenders. Reviewing some of my defenses, it doesn't seem so.

Pff... had I known that, I would have spent my oil otherwise. How about MK1 tanks that you turn into yours by using Betrayal? Do they get the splash damage?

Don't know, but it was worth the oil, the splash damage for you mk tanks is a real benefit when you attack if you a surrounded by enemies.

If I give a MK tank with my Alliance gate (or receive one) how have the splash damage, did the tank keep the splash damage
1- When I attack other player using this tank?
2- When it defend my city ?
3- Did the "receiving" player must also have splash damage ?

Donated troops take on the research of the one who receives the troops. If you have splash damage researched, then a donated HT to you will also have splash upon deployment. Interestingly, while defending HT from bunkers and destroyed factories will not have splash damage (regardless of research), donated HTs from your allies coming out of the Town Center will (provided you did the research). Therefore, if betrayed, these donated HTs may also have splash damage

So a HT which I turn over through betrayal gets the splash damage which I just researched? I guess not, since these normally come out of factories/bunkers.

Correct, HTs from bunkers and factories do not have splash, no matter the research. The only time that your betrayal gets an HT with splash is if it comes from their Town Center (was donated). Not sure whether you or the person being attacked need the splash research. Not often do I see HTs in Town Center
