Stronghold spawning in waves?

Either we sabotage or kill the Stronghold too quickly, or more than likely, not that many people bother putting defensive troops in them, but we haven't seen Strongholds spawn troops yet. So my question is, do they spawn as quickly as the TC, when troops enter their range, or slower like stables/garrisons? And what about multiple troops, do they come out all at once, or in waves, separated by a certain time delay? If that's the case, I can't imagine ever seeing more than one army coming out...

They come out all at once, no delay, no timer. If you forgot to sabotage it before one of your units come in range and activate it, then all the defenders pop out to greet you.
