I'm Roman in classical with 66 spots, been doing well with 3 horsemen, 9 arch and rest legion. This clears any classical with minimal loss. I go after defenses in 2 waves an rally on the catapult once a couple garrisons are down.

Hi Yank. That's good to know u have a working formula. Initially the sheer might of legion wins us battles in roman. But it's not foolproof. Do u release archers after initial burst? Hope u get to complement war tactics with troops.

medieval british here. mine will be 7knight 20arch and 18pikemen 2 sabotage and general for standby and merc camp if available.
it can attack from classical to gunpowder age villages. make sure you take out ballistas first before catapult. troops expended on classical close to none. medieval pikemen and arch with minimal knight loss only. and gunpowder mostly all troops but if base is not maxed you can deal with it and come back with 1/3 to half of ur troops.

I just turned Medieval Age and ever since i unlocked horseman (Catapract/Knight) i also do Knight (3) Crossbowman (6) and rest is Ceasar's legion. Works like a charm. I always deploy horseman to the nearest Catapult and legions to the nearest Ballista tower. I deploy Crossbowman when the enemy defenders come out. I have max barracks with 88/88 troops (Roman)

I wonder if wall miner is also worth a mention. He quietly does his job and gets back to barracks if alive. It gives a great entry point. Do u see accommodating him in the mix?

Medieval Brit here.

I've been using the following:

3 Knights
26 Pikemen
20 Longbowmen
4 Raiders
1 Miner

I only have 2 tactic slots right now and use:

1 First Aid
1 Sabotage

Tried wall miner a little. They blow a hole in the wall with 1-shot but after that they're good for nothing.
So deploy them first and then your cataphracts.

Wooly u don't need wall miner to do anything else. U need to ensure your wall miner doesn't get killed before blasting the wall open. Use war tactics to enable safe entry. Then after his job done he gets back to barracks. Otherwise u loose time at higher levels trying to shoot down walls and enter using soldiers. By that time alarm generated wud ensure the opponent defense is ready to start causing casualty to your troops.

I'm classical, upgrading to medieval, and use 10 heavy companions and 5 phalanxs and rarely lose a single troop
