Had the crowns so switched to French nation after playing as Romans. Probably not my final choice but let's run with it. What do other French players use in war? Make use of the tank boost? I'm 154 industrial. Eventually i may settle on British or Germans. But i'm liking the fast training times....

I use 7 tanks, 4 artillery, 2 healing trucks and 20 heavy infantry. I find that works well for me. Level 178 industrial with the tanks section of Saladin researched in the uni. It was worth the effort in my opinion. I’m sure others will state their opinions. Find what works well for your style of game play. Experiment and have fun!

You might want to try out this composition and see how it works for you.
It used to work for me when I was in IA as the French. But, a number of things have changed with the game since then, so, try and experiment around it a bit to find a composition that works well for you.

Tank: 3
Artillery: 5 to 6
Supply truck: 3
Riflemen: 35 (if you carry 6 artillery) or 44 (if you carry 5 artillery)

Flampanzers at the mercenary camp.
Howitzers or field howitzers as donated units.

Hope this helps.
Cheers and happy gaming! :)

That sounds pretty good. Will give it a try. I've never used 3 supply trucks before...

One thing I have found is that the French tanks don't do the damage I expected them to inflict. Whereas previously my Roman footsoldiers were pretty impressive in that regard. We haven't had a war since the switch so we will see then. Training times with the blessing are great though.

The primary role of the French tanks is to absorb damage, while the other units deal damage to the base.
And, since they're durable, fewer tanks are enough to absorb damage, allowing you to carry more of the damage dealers (siege units).
French tanks are good at what they're meant to do - tank the damage :)

''tank the damage''? Never heard it described like that before but it's actually very accurate!
I might use this expression from now on if you don't mind. ;)
