Welcome to the Drone Age

Greetings Leaders,

We are celebrating DomiNations 7th year, and we’re very excited to say the time has finally arrived to introduce our 16th Age, The Drone Age. You’ve waged battle alongside us for seven years through the ages, and for players who have progressed through the Information Age, a new set of upgrades await! The Drone Age will make its way to your devices in our next DomiNations 11.0 Release. This update includes new art upgrades to the units, buildings, and mercenaries, but that’s not all that is coming your way for Drone Age. We also have a new building, The Drone Factory, which will be released later this summer!


We’ll start by covering the upgrades available on day one. Once you reach XP level 333 you can upgrade your Town Center to Drone Age, unlocking all of the upgrades listed below. We know many of you are excited to start your planning phase, so here's the upgrade breakdown:

Additional Buildings
So those are the units you can plan around to level up, but what about additional builds? Upon reaching Drone Age, players can build 1 extra unit for the S.A.M. Battery, the GCI Radar, the Signal Flare, Bunker, and seven extra walls.

Mercenaries
A level upgrade to the Mercenary Camp means there are new arrivals, the United Nations Peacekeeper and the Yatagan Tank. The United Nations Peacekeeper is a ranged infantry unit, while the Yatagan Tank is part of the Heavy Cavalry.

New Building - Drone Factory (working title)
While upgrades are expected with the arrival of a new age, we still have one more thing up our sleeve! Our team has been working hard on a new building called the Drone Factory which will introduce Offensive and Defensive Drones to DomiNations. These Drones will be useable in War and Multiplayer and will present Drone Age players with new strategic opportunities on both offense and defense. We’ve seen a few discussions online about Drones and can confirm that how these will be used in battle are as a new addition to gameplay and not connected to the Airstrip Recon plane upgrade.

The Drone Factory will not be available at launch but work is underway and we’re expecting it to launch later this summer. There’s plenty to talk about here, and we can’t wait to dive in and share all of the details. We know you have plenty of questions about what to expect once the Drone Factory releases, so be on the lookout for a future blog as we get closer to release!
 
Not really, Atomic->Digital (3), so Info->Automated (3) would continue this recent trend.

Ither question: at pic above at the right od citycenter, isnt that the university? Yet university aight upgradabe in drone age, cant follow xd
 
Attacker will be glad for that stats, but they are awesomely high. I needed 36 hours to max the three units out, only time consuming was getting all the oil. Defenders will need approx 12 months (rough calculation) to max all available buildings - if they had a maxed defense already.

This is something I've been saying for years. Maxing offense is much faster and much cheaper than maxing defense.
 
Lol, after months of being a free resource on the edge of base and only being raided for them 1-2 times a day I am not getting raided 4-5 times a day by Mk14 HTs, maxed recon and fighters.

The spenders are out! Also, even with my space age defenses I am still only giving up 1-2 stars on full out 3 gen, mercs and alliance troops attacks. Why don’t people just take the rss and leave? I would rather avoid the peace treaty and let more people raid…

Drone Age players dont match space age bases, and if they are raiding rss they will not go fr digital bases (well, most times)

Well that's to be expected at the start of a new age - especially this one requiring so much oil & generally higher costs. There must be a lot of Instant training blessings in use right now! 😄
 
BHG say it isn't so. Not only did you recently nerf the range of the attack heli to the same range as a short range mortar (my biggest gripe in the game) but now you reduced the missile range AGAIN - and you increased the mortar! Where's the logic?!

They really don't want anyone to use attack helicopters anymore.

I am also very disappointed and annoyed that they didn’t add citizens. It’s been years since they’ve given us more.

They are still powerful like hell. Just had the chance to test it. CWA helis versus Digital base 282, 1D (Filipinos). Museum boost 62 dmg, 19 hp, five donated drone age helis, no generals used, two level 5 Harlem fighters and two level 5 sepoys, 3O ofc. 1:57 for five stars.

This is still insane.

Using them on my CWa account wo any boost in MP, same on my main account. They are working good, no blessings also. And then do the math with museum, coalitions and probably council boost for war.

Also with council you can get boost on sabotage duration, and that’s definitely huge. 29% is 4 seconds more duration, have 39% for war, so approx 6 seconds more for every sabo. You don’t need to care about defense towers.

I think this sums up the situation perfectly. I agree the helis are very capable against ground troops - even HTs - but the fact that you need museum boosts or sabotaged towers or Paras or additional troops shows the devs don't care about real troop balance.
In mp I found a combo that works with helis but in general I like to use my troops as they are without the need for supplemental help. Call me old fashioned. 😄

I'm not saying helis are necessarily perfectly balanced (they probably aren't), but I would argue that if you're comparing them to some other troop which can clear a base without dying and do so without any help from supporting troops, tactics, museum bonuses, or air support, then it is that other troop which is in need of balancing. That's exactly where helis were when the barracks update came out and it was terrible for the game. Finding effective synergies and combinations should be the optimal path.
 
they could add water related troops? like boats, submarines, boats that deploy troops..
this would be a 3th way to attack and defense: from groundtroops, to airtroops, now sea troops. wouldnt that be a progress for the new ages? we are already so deep in the current age (information + drone age), as in real life..

besides, adding sea troops and buildings will add a whole new level to the game, more options in upgrading buildings and troops.
while a new drone troop which is an other air troop, its nice but its making urself a difficult new creation, same work could be spended on sea related stuff

u want an other level after sea? underground ;)
this would make offensive more difficult since uve to manage upperground, sea and underground war :)
u could start to repeat the strategy of the romans: 1 troop like the wall breacher, can digg a whole right before the wall, and after several seconds he comes out inside the walls, troops can follow safely through this tunnel.
u also could add 1 super heavy tank that can drive through walls, just like in real life. and then u can add a new type of troop maybe like the infiltrator, who goes straight for this super heavy tank
and what about defensive troops who spawn and build new type of defensive buildings? like some type of turret or tower type of building. cuz of this the offensive player will also have to be focussed on these 2 types of new defensive troops
-> you could add this type of troop to the offensive too: 1 special troop who builds a specific building outside the troops which is fixed and cant move, what this building does is up to u: attack, heal or protect an area

but again, the sea part is very important cuz it opens a whole new chapter: new buildings for the beach or on water, new troops to attack and defend, once u guys figured out who u want to add the sea chapter and got a basis, the rest will get easy, just like how easy it was to add all other barrack troops and factory troops: dock troops and submarine factory
