What did you do to airplanes in the last update?

There is no way that 10% hp from Versailles is making this much difference. Airplanes are as fragile as zeppelins now it seems, but at least zeppelins don't take arbitrary flight paths over every single possible defense.

If they're going to die so easily then it's time to create an airplane blessing or put airplanes on the training blessing. 30 minutes per plane is nuts, given that you need 3 for them to really be effective.

Just shy of 400 hp loss for atomic age players like myself to fighters. I don't use bombers so I expect there to be some losses there as well

Perhaps that's why Nexon introduced an Atomic age wonder that speeds up plane production. Coincidence?

Learn something new everyday, despite my best efforts. Does me no good though, as I'm not hitting atomic age anytime soon.

There is a blessing that gives planes more hp; the air superiority blessing. It's a global age temple blessing, though. Also not so fancy of its cost for how often you're going to go raiding vs how long it takes for mines and fruit trees to offer up metal/cider (especially if you're going to be warring every other day since those mercenaries love their ciders/metals). Would be nice if it gave you two or three attacks worth of its hp buff instead of just one. Kinda like how the trap blessing applies for three defenses where traps are sprung.

It was stupid of them to nerf it before releasing airforce related research in uni. I mean that would have been OP as fuck if they didn't nerf the planes, but now planes are basically made out of paper and its gonna be a while till they release air upgrade uni research..

you're assuming they aren't going to add trap and air defense research to the uni... There's plenty of more Leaders/ research trees to come.

My issue is a bit different; unless I'm mistaken the plane load order is supposed to go highest health goes first then lowest last. I've noticed unfortunately quite often that when all four are ready to be launched the weakest will come out first and be promptly destroyed.
Anyone else noticed this?

When I engage combat with multiple fighters, I often deploy only one. And luckily, it keeps on deploying the same plane.
That way, you will lose only one should you not destroy all defense buildings.
So yes, the game will always deploy the plane first that was already deployed (and likely suffered some damage = lowest health)

Having said that, I didnt notice a considerable reductio in HP's, my planes still kick ass.
And yes, with Amelia Earhart (at least I think) ranked up to be the next sceintist, that will likely be an air-focused reserach tree.

I don't get the complaints, a 10% buff is exactly what the planes lost. This means that in total, you lost something like 1/3 of a plane, HP wise. If you were always finishing battles with low plane HP that can be the difference needed to wipe them all. On the other hand, if you were very careful with planes, you might not notice the drop at all. It all depends on the damage you let them take.

Woody82 Sorry, I mean probably 90% of the time my planes will reshuffle to put the plane with the most health first which I'm quite certain has been stated to be by design (I don't have a source sorry), and this works great for the most part. What I'm saying is that sometimes the game forgets to shuffle them and I'll send out two planes to attack a tower which I expect to be a smart safe move with how it is supposed to work, however unexpectedly it will send out my weakest with my strongest and I'll lose that weak plane I had planned on keeping in reserve and my strong plane takes way more damage than I plan for

Eurh.. 10% of 110% is not 1/3 if you ask me...
..but yeh, the rest does make sense.

I'll repeat. They either need to be affected by the training blessing or have a sped up training blessing of their own if they're going to be so fragile and relatively expensive now. An atomic age wonder is nice for the 5%, at best, of the player base who have made it that far. It's not a lot of fun seeing the planes that i worked so hard to max in industrial become essentially useless, except as flying clean-up crew, due to to their fragility and idiotic flight paths

Fighter planes are buffed twice by library research (10% fighter health and 10% aircraft health) and previously by Versailles, meaning they had 130% of base HP. Now it's 120%. So they lost 100*(1-120/130) = 7.7% of their HP, so for everyone who has 4 planes that means total HP of planes was reduced by 4*7.7% =31% of a plane, or roughly 1/3 of a plane.

What I was trying to get at is that total HP is relevant to look at because most damage planes take is single target. Though I'm not actually sure about SAMs. I'm only industrial, most of my enemies don't have them.

Arent the planes deployed in a set order? After deploying all 4, the 1st one is up again, then 2nd etc. regardless of the hp level?

Anyway, never ever deploy just one plane. Always send them in pairs. The damage suffered is well distributed and you mostly need two of them anyway - to kill designated plane targets (sniper towers, htanks).

There's still a mathematical error there. 7,7% from a plane with 100HP is still 7,7% from 4 planes with 400HP in total.

With 1 plane you lost 7,7/100 HP's.
With 4 planes you lost 30,8/400 HP's

Both equals to 7,7%, so you did not lose 1/3 of your HP's, you lost 7,7%

My experience is different. If I have 4 fighters, then:

When I deploy 1, wait for it to return and deploy another one, then the same one as the first will be deployed.
When I deploy 2, wait for them to return, then the same 2 will be deployed again in the next run.

From there on I dont know anymore and you are fully right about the plane strategy: Only exception is when you are picking on defenders in a safe area, then it's perfectly fine to dispatch only one.
I usually carry 2 fighters and a bomber. send the bomber to a tower followed by a fighter to suppress it, and you can clear out a field pretty easily with no considerable damage.
