what is the point of 9+ on inventory?

anyone who plays for more than a day will have more than 9 items.
does anyone find a value in everyone having a green 9+ there?

this is analogous to the 'recommended upgrades' button that no thinking player attends....
both are obvious clutter that deserve criticism from those of us who love the game.

Who cares. Once you click on it it shows you how many you have. The recommended upgrade button can be good when you’ve upgraded everything important to you and have resources to burn and people to put to work.

Well if all your important stuff is done then you can click on it and it shows you what you can do with those free workers if you don’t know what to do next. If all your important things are done and don’t care what gets done next then it’s and “ easy button “ rather then looking around. So that’s when it happens.

I dont think I will ever get all important stuff done...upgrade times are just soooo boring long. Good news is that in 5,5 days I will get free workers for couple of minutes
