Why do players whine so much (and not just this game)

I've been playing massive online games since the beginning and one constant has always been a great deal of people whining on the game forum. Even on this forum, you can go back two years and see posts explaining how crappy this game is, no wonder you are failing, this game won't last, and so on. Two years later and the game is still adding enhancements. The second paragraph of their rants will then be their solution where if the devs only listened to them then the game would be amazing.

So, is all the negativity just a reflection of who we are as a society? Or are game developers inherently idiots and never know how to make a good game?

This is a genuine question and not a dig on anyone in particular as the whining is found across all games.

There will always be people who have something to whine about. Rather then adjust to a game that will change they find whining a better solution. What fun would it be if it just stayed the same.

You don't need to whine, it's for good that you may propose sth, complain about sth or even ask for sth to change or be implemented if possible, but everything should be done at a logical way, extreme shouts, demands, insults etc do not help

It's not just within the gaming community, it's small minded people, in general, living in their own little reality, who believe 'theirs' is the only way.

Yup. Never understood the mentality of "hey, he's complaining, why don't I go call him a whiner". Just don't waste your time responding to something if you don't agree with it, it's not complicated. Especially if someone's suggestion/complaint wouldn't negatively affect you. If someone's going "we should nerf the British so their UU doesn't have extra range", by all means, tell them why you disapprove. But it seems like if the complainers are so "closed minded", it's not really worth typing to them anyway since they are going to keep whining.

But with threads like this bringing even more attention to the problem, I don't think it'll disappear from the forum at all. Oh well.

Maybe you and Siuyin are not familiar with the expression ''you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar'', if catching flies happens to be your thing.
There are two ways to bring about change. One is constructive, where people point out an issue or a fault, and offer suggestions or alternatives. This is the grown up way.
The other way is destructive, where people whine like children and as a result other people are less likely to listen to what they say.
But by all means, everyone is free to choose one way or the other.

I think people come here to *whine* because they care about the direction of the game.

To use the word *whine* is a dig because it has a negative connotation.

To call everyone a whiner because they have a suggestion/complaint based on their experience is kind of being a self centered d*ck (* stands for u, don't censor me) by dismissing everyone else's perspective. BTW, when did it become a bad thing for a customer to provide feedback? Is a company supposed to produce a product based on what they think customers want? Good companies pay good money to acquire feedback. And, here we are providing it to Nexon for free! You are welcome, Nexon.

Keep in mind, we play the game and nexon doesn't, so it would theoretically be VERY important for us to provide feedback AND for them to listen to that feedback.

My point was more so that making threads about these people likely won't achieve the goal we want. There are always going to be whiners, it's best to ignore them than to spend time typing to them, if that makes any sense.

This is not a constructive criticism post. It is an observation post and wanted to get the views of others. I’m in no way trying to change the game or people. I think I made it abundantly clear that my observation happens in all games and I know it won’t stop.

There’s a reason this forum exists, to discuss flaws with the game and changes to be made. It’s how Nexon finds out what we want changed. They almost never listen, but that’s beside the point. McNasty, if you wanna pay 300 crowns on 2 fur from a chest, go ahead. But there’s some players who want their voice heard, who want to actually have fun in this game. You can either “adapt” to DomiNations (by spending hundreds of dollars in crowns to spend on fur and cider), or you can input your ideas, help this game be fun and exciting, be the reason you log in every day.

Why do protesters protest? Do you think some people can just “adapt” to Donald Trump’s racism, sexism, and all the other “isms”? Or is it that they want change, that they don’t care how much they are listened to, but that they take comfort in knowing that someone out there cares? Point is, “whining” is our form of protesting. If you don’t like it, don’t go on this forum. Instead, go buy some chests for 300 crowns and enjoy your fur and cider.

To be clear. This is NOT a constructive criticism post. I am making an observation and not trying to change the game or people. It was a curiosity on my part and was interested in the insight of others. As I’ve said a couple time, I realize this happens in all games and it won’t ever go away.
