A bug in "Revenge"?

Is there a bug or glitch in the revenge system?

It's very common to scroll down the last 10 or 12 players that attacked you to find they are all allegedly online or have peace treaties (many seem to feel this applies particularly to South East Asian attackers).

However last night I thought I'd give it a go and with the aid of training and tactics blessings I was able to hit my last 7 attackers in a row.

Then I decided against actually going for the 7nth, the troop cost would not have been justified by the low resources.

After that I couldn't hit any others, it was back to online and peace treaties.

Was this just the equivalent of throwing a coin heads 7 times in a row, or is there some bug that kicked back in when I declined to attack?

I have to say it seemed beyond luck, to me at least.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Certain players definitely seem to be under attack way more than is expected - you have to feel sorry for them ..... and if they're not under attack they're clearly playing 24/7 .....

Yes it does seem that way 99% of the time. But have you exhaust all the possible variables involved? Medal count, time zones? When your told they are under a peace treaty, have you hunted that play down to verify through their Alliance? Just have to load the appropeate typewriter/s. Now medal count, when I play with low medals I get mostly the minimum peace treaty, 2-3 stared. On or before the shield drops I will attack at least once, more if time allows. I log off, within fifteen minutes I am notified of an attack. Attacked again and again maybe five minute between attacks, if I did not get a peace treaty from the previous attack. Fairly small window to attack me with the Revenge button! If I play in higher medals, I get the max treaty when attacked, mostly 5 stared. Which allows me to go all the next day into the evening after dinner, before I need to be concerned about the peace treaty running out. Also when I log off holding higher medals I am notified of an attacked within five minutes or less. Smaller window even yet to attack me with the Revenge button!

I suspect there is also something not working right server side. Think about it: As we play the game, our devices periodically poll the server and transmit update info so progress is saved, but it's not a continual read/write. That's why network issues are suddenly magnified when you try to attack---there's lot more frequent reading/writing to the server when battling. To initiate a revenge attack, your device has to tell the server what you want to do, the server has to identify your intended revenge target and poll that player's device (which might be on the other side of the world) to make sure they're not online, then the server has to return the result to you, either saying you can't attack or initiating the battle. Of course, this all can happen very quickly, but I wouldn't expect it to be significantly faster than normal matchmaking.

Yet have you ever noticed that when a revenge attempt is rejected, it happens almost instantaneously? I have a feeling that there are some server routing issues that make the revenge system really fragile, and that most attempts fail before completion and throw one of the standard error messages.
