Cannons on Defense??

Has this always been around, and I've just never noticed? Needless to say, my troops got massacred. Medal win/loss ratio is way off, bases are wielding far less payouts, and I'm definitely having a much harder time winning raids. Seems like the HC wasn't the only thing to get nerfed, again? Brutal.

I didn't know that donated troops defend either. I haven't seen this before.

2-3 gatling in defense are making a killing. I always donate gatling to my team mate late in the night.

i send cannons to my alli mates all the time. I'm glad to hear they're just as effect on defense as they are on attack

Yes. Donated troops are store within the TC and will assist the town when under attack. If they alive, they will go back to the TC.
My TC was little bit stronger when my alliance members donated me the Heavy Gattling ... lol

so... when is this going to be fixed? ridiculously overpowered and pretty frustrating to lose most of your army in 1 hit.

This is not a bug or design issue etc. It does not need fixing. It works exactly as intended and is encouraged by the powers that are in charge.

This has also been covered by other posts where suggestions to counter these units have been offered. Tactics for example

Yes, I reckon betrayal is the best way and it will be successful 100%. The converted arti normally die fast as betrayal side effect is too much for their weak HP.

yes cannons rule on offense and defense, and betrayal/barrage for offense if you meet them is best
