Hey there Leaders! My name is Morgan and I'm one of the designers here at BHG.

I’m excited to introduce our newest feature, the Event System! Available to players Classical Age and above. Events are a new way for players to interact with the game. By pursuing a specific goal, players can earn fun new content celebrating historical figures and events not yet included in DomiNations!

With the Event System, we hope to move players around the box, exposing them to different parts of the game. Mark of the Assassin pushed players to engage in multiplayer combat and destroy defensive buildings without the typical multiplayer focus on stars, medals, or loot. For Trade Mansa, we rewarded players that gained trade goods, which provide an essential boost to player’s nations when used for blessings and mercenaries. Conquest gave players an opportunity to test out different army compositions and figure out the most efficient way to train, win, and return to the battlefield quickly. Our goal is to get players thinking and playing in fun new ways, expanding their knowledge and understanding of DomiNations, experience world history, and getting big loot.

Events act as our design sandbox for unique game items. It’s a space where we can test out new unit types, buildings, strategies and more. Making rewards temporary allows us to keep them exciting (if a bit overpowered) while preventing them from upsetting the balance of the game. A few ideas from events have already made their way to the game. Joan of Arc was originally a reward for one of our first events, but we liked her so much, we decided to make her a permanent addition to the Castle in our 3.1 release. Another event reward that migrated into the game is the Tactics Blessing. While we left the blessing in its original form for Conquest, we added a shorter duration version players can unlock in the library (chapter 4 of Zeal). These are the first items that made the jump, and I’m sure other ideas and items from events will enhance the game going forward.

The biggest challenge we’ve faced with the Event System is setting the goal difficulties. We put a lot of effort into coming up with goals players will find challenging, but not impossible. We made event goals age specific to account for the increase in difficulty as players progress through the ages. During the first two events, players surprised us with how quickly they were able to accomplish the goals. However, with the Conquest event, we may have made things too difficult for players. We will continue to adjust and iterate on the process until we arrive at the sweet spots that allows players engaged with the event to earn the reward with the right amount of challenge.

Hey Morgan, thanks for your post. The Conquest event was the first that I did not/will not finish. I actually really appreciate that you raised the difficulty to the point that it was a struggle to complete. Challenges are what make this game exciting and I hope you won't water them down just because some players are vocal about wanting to lower the bar. Looking forward to the next event! I'd love to see an event that was focused on WW, in which the rewards depend on achieving a certain number of war victories or fighting against computer alliances that are generated by Nexon. Or a campaign style format where you have to work through a series of pre-designed bases instead of just focusing on multiplayer battles. For rewards, please bring back the specialist armies, really missed those in this event. I think an ideal reward would significantly alter gameplay in an interesting way. Maybe a new defensive building that will require attackers to modify their strategies, at least for the week or so it is in hand. Cheers!

I think many people have the same opinion of me about events, so Ill ask one of the most important features we want/need/hope: will be a new nation in the next update? dont behave like a blind, and answer me. Its just 1 minute of your time, just yes or no.

Thanks for posting Morgan. I'm enjoying your events and yes I found Conquest to be difficult. Just didn't have the time to finish it. Others in my alliance spent nearly every waking minute working on it and are in the midst of genghis euphoria so it's not like its impossible. The thing I really like about these events is that the rewards are temporary so if you do happen to fall short of the goal you are not penalized forever for it. My suggestion is to keep making the events varying degrees of difficulty and you will keep everyone happy.

For a future event, I'd like to see something that can incorporate alliance team building... literally. Perhaps something we can build as a team like a bridge or something... Everyone donating certain components (i.e. Food, gold, trade goods, oil) until the bridge is built. Different optional banners can be made to show a team completed the bridge. Possible prizes could be, if the bridge is built everyone who participated can get a medal boost proportionate to the amount they contributed. Or everyone gets a speed up on their next upgrade... There are so many possibilities. Keep up the good work!

They should release it in Fall 2016. They got quite the things to fix and we'll give them that time now....

Yes! This would be fantastic! Other teamwork variations could include - having each alliance fight some massive base. Each player would get one or two attacks and the damage they inflicted would remain, that way they could all help to gradually weaken defenses and score a victory. Could even have a number of alliances work together to stop some worldwide catastrophe by all contributing to either
- fighting against a universal opponent with hundreds of bases,
- destroying an enormous base together or
- averting a zombie apocalypse or some other nasty invasion
- building a large city structure or defensive base.

Wow, this is not at all accurate. One of the most important features we want is a new nation? So many other things I would rather see! Sharing replays would be #1, features to enhance chat or alliance communication, features that help us collaborate better (i.e. donating resources), features to enhance wars and make them more unique...I am sure there are more but that's all I have time for on the fly.

I second..or uh third or fourth THIS question....I rushed to Industrial maybe a bit soon, but "Global Age is coming soon! " has been a while now.

USA Elite Will I ask that many times because I dont like playing with germans, and I though about switch to France. So, do you recomend me to do it now? or wait? and how can you know about future features?

Just a note folks - new features will be announced when they're ready! Tim usually posts some good info about coming content in his State of the Nations posts, so keep an eye out for those (he's writing one now!)

You mean we all get to attack Gailwho ... she is always advertising zombie apocalypse 😉

Some alliances have their own offshoots, how would the rest of us be selected? Randomly by computer, short straws, names out of a hat, pistols at dawn, a new please choose me page on the forum ?

IronFist all you ever do on his forum is bash and demand things from the devs. I rarely see that provide an constructive feedback or positive contribution to the forum.

I hope they don't release Global Age until Summer or Fall 2016 until the fix the cheaters and bugs first.
