I'm a long time player of strategy games and a huge fan of Civ 2, so was understandably excited when I discovered this game s few days ago. I'm totally hooked already and have ditched my previous regular game, Tiny Realms on iOS for this.

One huge loss here though is unit control - to have a large group of units blindly attacking a useless building whilst under attack until they all die is silly and as the general to not be able to issue orders in battle is similarly not so good. In tiny realms combatants are lumped into warbands, squads of 30+ which can be made up of whatever you like - then you can directly RTS style issue orders to them, for instance all attacking a single defensive building or taking one each simultaneously.

For me the premise, style and execution of this game so far as I have seen is excellent and a great fit for me, to be able to order units around in battle aside from once every 30 seconds or so for all units at once would make this game as close to perfect as any so far on iOS, especially for the traditionally PC only strategy games.

Tl;dr - this game is absolutely fantastic and super-kudos on everything, but controlling units or squads of units in battle would make this game a total world- beater.

Please don't let my suggestion detract from the excellent job you've done with this game, just a suggestion I'm really passionate about :)
Thanks

I love the idea of being more in control of your troops but i think that most RTS games these days are a little dumbed down excuse my language lol which is why most games don't give the ability to control your troops. When i started playing this game it kind of gave me the feel of a Clash of Clan, Boom Beach, and Age of Empire mix with its own unique twists as well which is great. I would have loved the idea of how age of empires you can be more in control of your troops. You can use squadrons or single troops to attack whatever you desire. The fact is i don't think this game will be going down that direction unless they redo the entire coding of the game since they have made the entire game on the different troop abilities. For example, some troops directly target resources so these would be useless if you are controlling them. Then you could make any troop and directly send them to whatever you want. Although i think this is a fantastic idea and really should have been how the game was created i seriously doubt that the developers would be willing to change the entire code of the game.
Just my 2 cents

Yeah I agree we should have control over our units. My archers will attack a wall to get to a target instead of going around through a hole I made 30 seconds ago. In a game like this unit commands are very important. I've played strategy games for more than 15 years since I was a kid. This game reminds me a bit of Empire Earth and so far this game blows just about everything else out of the water. We should be able to command each type of unit and have the option to dictate where they go. We are given wide freedom to build how we want and to attack where we think is best. Now give us the freedom to command different units and you have yourself a true strategy game.

I totally agree on this. Make som i have to klick som soliers / select them and then draw a line by moving my finger across the battle field. And once i release the selected units should go on that path i have created!

I think what we are touching on here is not really a better AI but the ability to control the troops. Even if the AI was to be perfected i would still honestly prefer to have control over my troops and choose which to attack where and how etc...
The problem isn't whether the AI is perfect, the thing is we just prefer a game like Age of Empires where you could control your entire army however you wanted.

I would love this idea to be implemented. Actual control over your units would give strategy and tactics in this game a whole new dimension.
