Does anyone know why the layout editor doesn't allow this?

I've been mucking about with the layout editor trying out various things while designing my base again from scratch but every time I save it and then re-enter the layout editor removes one piece of wall and places it on the list of stuff not yet placed. It's a final piece of wall on the end of a three-gate passage, with the necessary one-tile gaps in between, but it comes up red and won't let me place it even though the tile is empty and it's a valid placement. (See Image 1)

If I remove the gate first, place the wall and then re-add the gate then it allows me to place it all and save it with no red exclamation mark. (See Image 2). However, as soon as I go back in that one piece of wall has been removed again.

Is there some weird rule about not being allowed to have several gates in a row? Or is it just a weird bug? Has anyone experienced this before and, if so, does the piece of wall actually appear when you're attacked or is it missing allowing enemy troops to pass straight through?

I will eventually activate the base, get attacked and then view the replay to find out myself but just wondered if anyone knew beforehand.

It won't go away, just have to deal with it, certain gates at certain spaces on the map don't like each other

No, just very naughty! However, I've now done the experiment and have managed to tame the beast since my defence replay showed the wall and gate were in place during the attack.

Unfortunately, it was a classic British riflemen and artillery attack so, however meticulously I designed my new base, it made no difference since my defences got shot to pieces from such a ridiculously ranged distance, even over a set of double walls, before they could even retaliate ...

I've a similar problem - 1 piece of the wall goes up as not placed on the map. However, if I remove an adjoining gate next to that piece of wall, place the wall first, and then place the gate, it allows me to save the layout and activate it immediately. But, if I come back to editing the base, the wall is back again as an item yet to be placed on the map. This happens on one of my war base layouts, consistently, every time.
