I'm mostly done with all my food upgrades minus some caravan and library, but I have tons of gold upgrades left including walls.

I will have max food for the next few weeks and will be desperate for gold the entire time.

What league do some of you find gold to be most plentiful ? or how do you compensate for this imbalance

I agree, the amount of gold we gain is insanely low. I'm just level 47 and I'm worrying about the new age at level 60.
However try to upgrade your road and connect as much as possible. That will give a decent amount of gold, still not enough. But it's something :)

Just incase the developers read too: A decent solution would also be to change the recovery time of tree's/gold mines. And to increase the amount of gold mines, I got 2 goldmines and tons of trees.

This game is laggy

The existence of walls with their exorbitant cost of upgrade guarantees the screwiness of gold-food ratio. There's no way out of it.

what about trading one resource for another but at great cost? like to swithc food to gold it would take 300,000 food to make 100,000 gold?

Well, based on my stats, looted gold/food ratio is around 2/3 what is quite okay, caz food is also spent on army. It might be more difficult to loot gold on lower levels, caz walls are cheap, but when walls are getting to 200/500k's I think it gets much easier. May be I am saying so, caz I play british with economic wonders, but it shouldn't be making super big differense. It's quite often that food is the resource I need the most

yeah I'm at 400% on my roads and their upgraded for my level. Even so the amount of gold produced is weak in comparison to the cost of walls

gold is in much higher demand because of walls. but for buildings and research its pretty even. and then battle losses push food higher

If any of you ever played CoC, you should have known that gold will be short forever as long as you see there are walls.

It is not a problem in these type of games, it is a common fact a good player should keep in mind. That makes the difference between experienced player and regular player.

Stonehenge, ND and road connection are the best source that a player can use to boost their gold production.
If the game resource system is not that pathetic and heavily rely on raid, those three will give a player big advantage in building a stronger defense power and take the lead in a strategy game.

The game needs more gold mines or... the cost of walls need to be reduced since they are practically useless when higher age troops can just shoot across it.

Given the cost and length of gold-related upgrades it's obvious they want you to use crowns.

I chose stonehenge + notre dame to try to generate as much gold as possible.

Walls are not useless at high levels. That's why it's really annoying that most of the players with lvl 11 walls obtained them illegally
