with the reduction of guerilla troop space to 10 (8 with library research), has anyone had success using them in battle now? If so, what tactic did you use? I tried dropping a couple guerillas with main force and they got killed too quickly to be worth it for me.

They're better in war in my opinion, as they are very base specific. If there are defenders near, or a high likelihood of traps it's generally not worth the effort. That said I have had some extremely good results on otherwise tough bases.

Depends a lot on the base build. If there is any defender spawning buildings, castles, or the TC nearby then it's generally not worth the investment for a war attack compared to just having an extra siege unit I feel. While I've had some really nice usages of them so far with bad base builds I feel like a good base build won't really let them get anything more than 2 or 3 buildings destroyed before they activate something you generally don't want activating before the rest of your troops get there. That is to say that the sabotuer essentially gives unit spawning buildings an advantage against your other units since it pops their first spawn, and the second spawn's longer spawn time will not be a factor since the main clump of your army generally might not move fast enough to neutralize wave 2. Blitzkrieg helps with this at the least, but then you're investing a full on wonder just to make them more than a niche strat.

Thanks, makes sense. so do you have problem with healing carts following after them and getting killed? Also how many guerillas do you typically use?

The healers aren't going through the walls and will more than likely die waiting at the gate. Guerrilla troops are basically kamikaze troops. Send one to kill a troublesome defensive building then drop the remaining troops once the sabotage has been done. I am in agreement with JMoney, the base design determines if using these guys is a smart move or not.

I'm about to upgrade my factory to unlock them. I have based my opinion off of Shinobi and I have been told Guerrilla troops are slow moving compared to the swift Shinobi. I absolutely love the Dojo and even though Shinobi were 10 troop space, I was rocking 2 & 3 in my composition for war. I once ran 6 Shinobi when gunpowder and I put 3☆ 56% destruction on a L152 global base. Was awesome back then ;-]

Glacier how does a gunpowder age player attack a global age player? Am I missing something here?

Have noticed my guerrilla troop died from the castle/fort that was close to a defensive building I targeted. Now the description says "shooting buildings" so why was I watching that building take 3 shots to kill my guerrilla troop while it just stood there waiting for it's explosive to go boom?

Yeah, now that I've seen one in action, I'll not be training any at all. They suck! Come on Nexon, dude needs to be headed to the next target, not filing it's nails while in range of the shrapnel lmao, smh
