How do I tell if the majority of the oil is in refinery vs wells?

With farms and mills the food goes from empty to a bit of red, to medium, to full of apples or what not. Same with road vs markets markets go from no gold coins all the way to overflowing gold.

For oil refineries I haven't been able to see a distinction. Can anyone help me out?

Ahhh! I was always looking in the well. It's based off of how many barrels of oil are outside the tank. Thank you so much for linking the video!

It's actually quite a good video.

tl;dr
When the Oil Refinery is nearly empty, there are no barrels that appear out in front of the tank.
If the Oil Refinery is moderately full, there will be a small amount (5) barrels of oil in front of the refinery.
When the Oil Refinery is completely (or almost completely) full, there will be additional oil barrels stacked on top of the existing barrels out front of the oil tank.
