Hi! I find this symmetrical layout useful both here and way back in clash days. I have ramparts ch3 for this wall count. In war base mode you can just move out the storages, mills, and markets out the wall and move the towers or stables in.

I will post these windmill style bases for each age I'm in as I am making them since I cannot find any other designs around the web so I guess I will do the honors.

I think it's a good layout and will probably stay strong for you for a good amount of time even through industrial in MP since the matchup system is a more specific to who sees you when they search for an opponent. In war it's difficult to find any base really useful because there's no rules to who can attack you. Depending on the match up, they could have all industrial, global, and higher. We have a few gunpowder players in our war but matchup wise (Unless they sandbag) we find that normally the lowest age is a high level industrial.

A central quadrant design in Medieval age has excellent advantages, with each quadrant essentially being a trap for the attacker to suffer a hail of fire from the other three quadrants. The attacker tries hard to break inside and doesn’t realize until it’s too late that inside is exactly where you want him. It works especially well for farming peace treaties (with TC in one corner) and for protecting resources where you let them take a little to stop them taking everything. In later ages it can fall prey to ranged siege and British shooters and a redesign will be called for. But I still use it in Industrial Age and it still foils many attacks even from Global players.

No Title

Not a bad layout, but I think it underutilizes your traps and Acropolis a bit. However, as someone who is always looking for ways to improve my base layout, i do like your ideas.

I have attached my current layout for your review and opinions.

Nice to see this discussion! Keep it up, everyone!
Just a suggestion. You can consider moving your town center outside the walls for your town base layout. In multi player battles, players would attack you for your resource, and not to take down your town center. Leaving it outside the walls, unprotected, would increase your chances of getting a peace treaty if you get attacked for your resources, and they destroy your unprotected town center in the process.
Another suggestion would be to spread out your farms, and intersperse them with other buildings. If the farms are clustered up together, or are placed one next to each other, a few raiders would be able to take away all of the food from your farms quite easily.
Hope this helps! Cheers, and happy gaming! :)

Flash, thank you for the advice. I have considered moving my TH outside, and I may look at this more when I have Oil. Right now, I only get attacked about once a week, and it is usually by higher level players. I really don’t lose many resources, even when I get full cleared. I think if my TC was outside I might get attacked more frequently. I really don’t need the peace treaty, not only because I get attacked so frequently, but because I attack others so frequently. Any loot that I lose, I can easily get back in an attack or two. I choose to leave my TC well defended in the off chance that I get attacked and I can actually get a defend. Gotta get those achievements!

As far as farms go, they actually have pretty high hit points compared to other buildings. I try to keep them around exposed defenses so I can have a little cushion from ground troops.

I like that layout too...well....for me... actually its been several weeks since someone attacked me.. I found out that as long as I stay within 400-500 medals no one seems to see my base..hmm....dunno works a lot. I don't know whats wrong with the matchings system but it buys me somw tine tikl I advance. I actuallu enjoy the benefits of my base design and I am aware of its flaw but to be honest...I just find the swastika base design cool lookin. hahaha
