I mean, I have 70 walls. I'd have to leave an entire side off the donut.

You can leave stuff out depending on what you have (walls, extra towers etc.), and bring em inside as you get the extra walls, on my current design my castle is outside and I even have some extra walls. So far it's been doing very well, no single storage stolen, I will keep posting my results along with a screenshot of my current layout after more testing, but it seems like it's going to do just fine :)
glad u gave it a chance. yeah in the 400 medal range the donut will prevent more storage loss imo than the 2x2....i came across the 2x2 again this time i was able to rally on center wall peice.....when my donut gets hit by enlightenment players its because i was in the 200 medal range doing farming of my own. but once i entered gunpowder age i decided to see what kind of whales i can farm in the higher medal ranges. i started he climb yesterday and in the 400 medal range no one attacked me all night. in the 700 medal range during my meeting at work for 4 hrs no one attacked. so i can definitely say the 200 medal range is the most dangerous. ill let u guys know what medal range i start seeing enlightenment again

also because enlightenment infantry(melee) troops carry rigles and shoot 2 squares they can shoot over walls. which means my new donut defense has walls then gap then buildings

it makes enlightenment infantry melee that much stronger because they can start shooting at incoming garrison defenders before the defenders get into striking range. like miniature archers its ugly. also keeps them back from buildings more so sometimes towers cant reach them like they would regular melee infantry

depend on how you set up your donut base. my previous base design wasn't as good as i thought it was. then i changed to the design i post above. still a donut base, uglier but it work well. i dont mind losing medal. since i started use that design, almost 100% of the time they would attack my hall on the north. i focus on the wall on the north right now so my 3 catapult can destroy them by the time they reach the wall. i lost every single time because of the hall but my resource are still intact. plus i have 4h protection when im a sleep, which is nice

i like that design. i would rearrange all the stuff outside the walls. roads being pandered too are messing up ur organization. once uve opened up some space by rearranging i would slide entire thing down to make room for sacrificial buildings outside the north wall

what is your suggestion then ?

i made a mistake of having too many roads and cant remove them. i really have no use for them. my idea is to set up a non essential building on the south and the west. i believe it will make most people dont want to attack them therefor they will attack from the north and east. so i only have to focus on those 2 sides. now my next move is going to gunpower, relocate those building to the west an south completely while try to get 2 redoubt to reinforce the north and west.

u mostly want ur base to be even on all sides or people will attack the side that best suits their army composition and goal(resources vs town medal). ur wall design is good. u just need to reorganize the mess outside the walls. then slide entire base down to make room for sacrificial buildings 360 around ur walls

So after more testing the donut base I designed has been working perfectly. im still on the 400-600 medal range, so no enlightenment attacks for me, btu everything else I've defended. Not once they have taken a full storage, I posted this base on a different thread so it's easier to find:

But here it is anyway:

once ur ready to start defending against gunpowder and enlightenment players ull want to put a space between the walls and ur buildings because enlightenment infantry shoot 2 spaces over walls. but overall defense vs enlightenment probably isnt possible before u get redoubts and better catapults
