The wonder concept is great, but aesthetically speaking they often clash with civilization architecture. For example, I chose Acropolis in an age where my architecture is very generic, once I chose Japanese, the stone masonry of Acropolis and the Japanese WOODEN architecture is... odd, to say the least. I think it's better to start wonder construction starting at Iron Age, and the wonders need to reflect the civilization For example, it doesn't make sense for Chinese to make a Pyramid. In fact, Egyptian civilization isn't even in the game, and we have Cleopatra I think it's better to change "Wonders" into "Monuments". The problem is, in real world not all civilization has a wonder. Japanese does not have any (unless you count the Golden Temple, and I don't think it was counted), neither do the Germans. In contrary, the Chinese have Great Wall which did not make the cut and Terra Cotta wasn't part of the Wonders of the World. So, I think it's better to replace wonders with iconic monuments of each civilization. For example, French has Eiffel Tower, Britons have the Big Ben, Japanese has Golden Temple, that sort of thing
