Smart soldiers not so smart

Apparently the soldiers are supposed to be smart when you attack someone, and we only have limited ability to direct them in battle. So why, when there is a gap in the opponents wall, do some soldiers sit firing at a wall for the entire battle, when there is a place they could get through, even ignoring when you do direct them to go somewhere? This results in wasted time which could be used firing at buildings or enemy soldiers. And why when enemy soldiers are attacking and killing your soldiers, do they stupidly keep firing at a building while they are bing killed and could be defending themselves by killing the enemy soldiers attacking them. Please can you fix the not so smart soldiers who can't seem to figure out what is the right thing to fire at. They need to stop firing at walls when there is a gap in the wall, unless you direct them to fire at that wall. Recently I directed my soldiers to a spot, right next to the town centre of an opponent. They arrived and all promptly turned in the opposite direction and started firing at a wall, and I lost out on getting the resources from the town centre. Clearly not so smart are they?

So I just finished a battle, and my soldiers got wiped out. Why? Because they stood firing at a stupid wall while enemy soldiers walked down the line and killed them off, despite the fact that there was a gap in the wall. This glitch needs fixing. Soldiers should not fire at walls if there is a gap in it and should stop firing at walls when enemy soldiers are nearby to fire at them instead

also the rally needs to be fixed......
I am assuming by this you mean when you rally your soldiers and not all of them respond? Some stand continuing to fire at a building or wall while the others rally. If so, I agree, this needs fixing. The rally needs to be the only priority the soldiers follow when it is given. Sometimes you use it to move soldiers or save them being killed and when they don't respond, you lose them Fix the not so smart soldiers who can't see to follow orders and can't seem to figure out what is important to attack

So does technical services for this game actually read the forums and see what problems people are having? Or are they a company that doesn't care what problems people are having? Or is it best to go and give 1 star on the iTunes store with a very bad review to get their attention? This is a MAJOR game glitch, as attacking is a big part of the game and clearly soldiers firing at walls when there are better targets to fire at is a problem. Had the same problem AGAIN today (over half my army ignored a rally call and continued to fire at a wall, in range of a tower which simply picked them all off). There apwas nothing I could do as the rally call timer was still counting down. If I ended the battle I would have lost the troops anyhow as not enough damage had been done. So basically I was screwed, not because my troops could not win the fight, but because they are a bunch or stupid, brainless morons who cannot follow orders in battle!

I agree to the OP. They need to improve the soldiers AI, so they can navigate easier aroud a city and decide if it's time-saving destroying a wall section or going around.

I just used a rally and watched as 15 archers just totally ignored it and still hit another building for the entire duration of the rally and Im german so I get a longer all, and no the building didn't get destroyed. So there was no reason other than really bad AI. Not only happened right now but happens pretty much every fight....

I would like to add the defending part. The troops from Garrison when defending act clueless many times. Instead of hitting the troop in front of them, they get confused and move here and there from one troop to another and they get killed so easily. Need to fix this too. Please.

I just had a similar problem. Waited 17 minutes for my troops to retrain, started a new battle. First building was a ballista tower behind a wall. I sent 35 archers, and once they were all on the screen, I used the rally on the ballista tower. Well within their reach to fire at. Instead all the archers decided to fire at the wall (ignoring the rally to fire at a specific building). What made it worse was that all the archers fired at different walls. Within a few seconds, the ballista tower killed all 35 archers. Battle over, I didn't destroy a single building, due to the rally being ignored. I now need to wait ANOTHER 17 minutes to retrain my troops. This is seriously pissing me off and needs to be sorted out. MAJOR technical glitch in this game. I will not spend any money whatsoever on this game until it is sorted out. I do not feel a game with this sort of glitch is worth spending money on, especially if customer services does not take note of this thread.

There is soooo much wrong with the way the troops fight. If other enemies are archers "favorite target" why do they wait until the other enemy have killed everyone else before they attack. Also why do your troops break down a wall, and instead of coming back through the wall they just broke down, they try to break down another wall while getting monkey stomped by other troops. Not sure it's worth the time to keep playing if they don't fix these dump troops.

Unit pathfinding and target priority are some of the most urgent things to be adressed on the next major patches.

@David: That's the big question bro.. when they will apply those major patches when all people are already in doubt of their ability to enchance the game. No news about the upcoming updates either on facebook, twitter or in this site. What they've got only are lazy asses management. Weeks has been passed since its been officially released worldwide and they still dont give a fck about major patches. Oops sorry but Im really pissed in this game management.

Yeah, I know that feel of anger. What make us even more fed up is that it's a WONDERFUL mobile game that greatly enhances the CoC formula. If it was a crappy paper-thin clone, we would simply uninstall then go one-star it on Google Store/App Market.

Hard as it is, I think that the support fellows need a break on the bashing. It's a almost free game, and everyday people come on the foruns discharge their frustration at them. I would not call the devs lazy or greatly irresponsible. What I would say is that they may have rushed the worldwide release out of beta without adressing some major issues, and now they are overwhelmed by the massive gaming community and demands.

For that they deserve some severe criticism, but we can be peaceful in our complaints. No, you have not been thaaat agressive, and it's not a reprehension. I'm just saying because we see a lot of trashtalk here in the forum, and being polite and (try to be) comprehensive is the only way to erase the "gamers act like a-holes in forums" stigma.

@David: I totally agree with you bro.. that's so unprofessional move for them to release the game without any preparation on how to deal with those possible cheats, bugs and game crashes which is so common matter in this kind of game. They need to hire an experts on troubleshooting and a veteran guys who can actually play this kind of strategy game. They need to wake up their lazy ass people doing nothing and letting their players' complaints hang here in forums unanswered.

Agree with you had same experience, Samurai is strong unit but rather than going through gap they and other unit always try to break wall though there is gap. Very annoying.

I can sympathize with their working conditions, but at least do what you say you'll do: it's painful to see my archers killed by enemy infantry one by one - the guys they're supposed to be good against - because they think it's better to die in vain than preserve themselves. That's just crap Can we please have a "stance" button where we can say "defensive stance" to prioritize self-preservation and "offensive stance" to prioritize that mill that spews out enough food to train 5 more archers each shot?
