Well now that we all know about this unit on defense - cos it's been widely discussed in recent weeks - are we going to keep discussing/complaining about it - or are we going to come up with solutions (other than the obvious) to beat it??!

I, for one, will move continue to move forward, trying new things as I come across more and more of these units ..... but I will check these posts regularly just for the sake of nostalgia .... I may even offer a few suggestions - if it helps - like the Roman who, while shooting at my TC, immediately rallied his troops in front of my arty. The footmen killed it and casually carried on shooting at my TC .....

Yeh that's true, I guess I'm just tired of these threads popping up with people whining to nerf everything that's a challenge for them.

I'm sick of people saying it needs to be nerfed. I just 5 stared a bass that had a cannon come out. It's not that hard to get around and I think maybe they should increase offensive strength if anything.

Just because you played for a long time doesn't mean you're good, you can still be sub-par, and based on the fact that you're just discovered how lethal the cannons are on defense, shows how low your skills (or lack thereof) are

It so funny the top alliances were donating artillery to each other months before WW started and its only now some are complaining about Artillery defence. I think people should start playing at the top and push the envelope.

True but I'm just saying.. Just tired of all the nerf this nerf that. I think the game is balanced well right now. I would really like to see an improvement to AI of attacking troops. The people complaining the most are the ones who've most likely have rushed forward to soon.

Yeah, we've focused on defensive artys for some time now as well. It's interesting, though, that while there seems to be a consensus that they're the strongest defensive troop, some are still arguing that the game is properly balanced. Can both statements be true? Is there any other troop donation that impacts battles in the way defensive artys do?

Personally, I'd prefer ai improvements and buffs to nerfs. Start by giving range back to infantry, splash dmg to offensive artys, and also make all troops more aware of high risk troops and buildings. (Infantry could stay out of the range of mortars, generals could avoid anti-tank guns and hit other generals, rather than mills or farms, etc...)

This is kind of my whole point. I'm actually ok with the overall mechanics of how donated artillery works, but I just think the damage needs to be reduced some (maybe 10-20%). They'd still be strong as hell and probably the best overall defensive unit, but wouldn't be off the charts powerful like they are now.

I'd love to see this also, but I doubt its possible, at least in the short-mid term.
