For a beta, this is pretty good. I would like to see other bugs addressed first, but this is a long awaited feature and it's already helping us coach allies.

My experiente, based on our war against Global Forces: is just like MP replays. Sometimes works, sometimes don't. My own attacks are perfectly represented to me. The attack against my base looks ok but the replay ends at 2:30 with 4 stars, a lot of troops and a few buildings remaining. The war log shows a 5 star attack, ended at 2:38 what looks more real to me.
One of our players told that he copied a friend's attack on an enemy base. When you compare the replays, are complete different approaches and strategies.
Also, the log registered one star and 74% for a Global Force attack against one of our bases. The replay I saw shows 3 stars and 92%. In this cases, the problem can be either on the replays or the war log. Se second hypothesis is worse.
A great tool, that needs a lot of work

Fix the accuracy of the replays and also only allow viewing of them after a war ends. Then allow viewing for 2-3 days and then have them expire. Those are my suggestions. A war replay should not be able to be viewed while a war is in progress.

I feel the exact opposite. War replays increase the fun and entertainment value during the war - you can stay involved with your teammates much more by watching their attacks and discussing. Post war most people move on, and the interaction would be a lot less fun.

High level alliances are already doing this, in real time with recording apps and screen shots. But it is amazing to have them in war. If you are worried about trap locations being revealed, that was already easy with screen shots. It is now available to everyone, instead of just the top alliances.

Thank you, thank you thank you... This was a greatly needed improvement and it is working fairly well. Let's keep this beyond the beta period.

I recorded my war attack while I did it (connected iPad to computer and used QuickTime), and then recorded the replay of my hit so I could see them side by side. Alas, I made the same errors in both versions. Maybe it was nicer when my teammates could just see 5* and not my mistakes and how many troops I lost! Ahem. Seriously, the replay was accurate and it is really nice to be able to scroll to the other side of the battlefield to see what was happening there when I had zoomed to the other side during battle.

I do have a request/suggestion:

Could the replay clock be set to the same countdown as we saw during the attack itself? That way we could see how much time was left to get QV, or by how much we missed, and also how much time was left when we ended the battle.

Right now, the "time remaining" is set by the amount of time the attacker actually took, rather than the total amount allowed. In our battle log, my attack took 2m52s. In the replay, time remaining started at 2m47s for some reason. I got the QV at 2m20s in my recording (cutting it closer than I like, oops), but 1m35s in the replay.

Thanks!

Michele
P.S. I'm so glad the devs got us a match so our alliance could participate in the beta!

I just watched my second attack side-by-side with the replay and while it was also accurate, I noticed a small discrepancy in the final screen that shows stars & loot.

Under "Troops lost", the replay included my alliance troops, while the screen I got at the end of battle did not.
(In both cases, my allies had all died and troop bar at the bottom during battle showed 0 - I'm sorry, guys!)

I'm not sure which way is the way you want it to show! It never mattered to me before that the allied troops don't show up as "lost" since they are single use. It is inconsistent to ignore them, though, since only the mercs that die show as lost on that screen, and they too are single use.

In the last war the replay vs stars awarded differed. I sent a report with screenshots to CS. They told me to post here...

So here it is:

This guy clearly has only achieved 78% destruction of my war base. Replay timer is almost up. Plus he is almost
out of troops.

Even the end of battle report supports this:

Yet the War screen shows he 4 starred me and got 100%...

Clearly this is incorrect....

War replays are just like MP replays - a record of the actions taken, but not the exact random factors that can make a difference - especially if the attack was done on one platform and watched on another. The war screen is the official record, the replay is just for fun.

It's normal. Replays are not replays. The only thing replicated from the original battle is when and where you touched your screen to deploy something or to rally. This means that the "replay" battle likely unfolds a bit different than the original battle, including planes. In other words: the planes survived longer in the original battle, so the attacker was able to send them all into the battlefield again. In the "replay" battle you witnessed they got shot down, but then the "replay" still has to honour the deploys of the original battle and new planes magically appear out of thin air to honour where and when the planes were deployed during the original battle.
This is for all the people still struggling to understand the replays.
They are not actual recordings, as dannemare said. It's like you were allowed to play that battle a 2nd or 3rd or 4th time, touching the screen in the same spot and deploying the same troops over again.
There will be subtle differences and troops may go in slightly different directions each time.

Replay for my attacks seem fine, but for enemy attacks, they are far more likely to be incorrect. The stars in the replay don't match the log.

2 years and it's the same broken replay system. I think the programmers need to learn what a random number seed is. Other games don't have this problem, and 2 years is plenty of time to work out the bugs, but nothing has changed.

The replays worked perfectly here, and I see no good reason to limit replays to "2-3 days" or to make them unavailable "while a war is in progress". Both sides can view the replays and both sides can discuss previous attacks and make corrections for future attacks. That seems fair to me.

P.S. The Drop Bears are accepting new members. We are an alliance that chooses its rules and major decisions democratically, via voting. My in-game name is "Johnno". Feel free to drop in and check us out.

I've found WW replays to be extremely helpful, bugs aside. It's been good to see what kind of tactics my alliance members use, asking questions and keeping an eye on younger members of the alliance, without the need for recording apps. Now I can look at what our newest Classical Age alliance member did in his or her attack and provide feedback, if they're willing to receive it. Also, I can finally see how others approach my war base so I can make corrections or scrap ideas altogether. WW replays have been a huge hole in what has otherwise been a decent game to play.

This morning, we have concluded the Beta Test for World War Replays! We'd like to thank you all so much for participating and adding comments and screenshots to this thread.

So what happens next?

1.) We are going to be reviewing the data gathered while the World War Replays were active. This will be reviewed by engineers to work on bugs.
2.) We are reviewing and correlating all of the written data gathered during the period. This will be vetted by the designers.
3.) We are going to review these points and work on where World War Replays will fit in our current release schedule.

Thank you again for your valuable observations and participation!
