I am pretty sure you will change your opinion once you have faced 10+ consecutive WWs with 4 elephant archers troop card placed in stronghold of maxed AA or CWA base.
i won't. If you lose you drop in Glory Leaderboard and soon you will not be matched with alliances that use all elephant archers. If you lose 10+ in a row you got other issues. And, in other games you would spend $500, lose 50+ in a row, but will have done 0% damage to the other alliance/guild (at the same leaderboard level).
For these guild based micro transaction games there are three ways to make money:
#1. building/weapon/hero skins, and other visuals that make you look unique : this makes very little money for them
#2. disposable items to win battles : this makes moderate money (and a lot for big spenders)
#3: permanent items to win battles : this makes the most money and (in my experience) where you can spend hundreds and still suck bad at high levels
Every game does a combination of the top 3 because they are a business and they need to pay for their sports cars. The question is figuring out the best ratio between the three revenue streams. Obviously, players only ever want #1 but that doesn't bring in enough profit. So then you have #2 and #3. The reason I like this game (and stopped all others) is they do focus much more on #2 over #1. Sure, I'd like them to only #1, but I know the profit is not there. A trade off exists.
And, I don't expect most to agree with me, they will be convinced that #1 is all they need and if you don't do that the devs suck and are idiots.
