Are raiders dead?

I recently looked at a handful of leaderboard players. I noticed they now all use an army of healer+artillery+Archer+gatling. Sometimes with a few tanks. They were overwhelmingly using raiders before. Wondering where this trend shift is coming from. Is 5staring a viable strategy at top level eventually?

To answer your question - yes. I killed them - they were annoying my base.

You're dead on it's a Hammer, one of my favorite card along with wildfire emissary. I discovered Magic with the mirage block, needless to say I enjoyed a lot playing mono-red or green-red which were very strong deck at that time

I started during Revised edition. I'm a collector now, I kept a multicolour blue based keeper deck with all cards in NM black bordered original edition (beta, arabian, legends, etc...). I spend more time looking at the cards than playing them now. You can't really afford to just mess around with the P9 even with the sleeves on

Different goal different strategy. On the top of the leaderboard they are bored with raiders already, and as there is nothing to do, they are "entertaining" themselves, with trying out new strategies.
If you try to gain resources in a shortest time you go with raiders still.

I think they strongly believe that alliance war is going to be released very soon (which is likely true) and they are in a sort of training camp, trying various strategies to learn how to 5-stars top level base. Virtually all USA elite guys switched at the same time so I suspect a coordinated effort.

Can you take down maxed out IA bases with 2 lvl 30 generals defending?

Yep, I wipe them constantly, after taking the resources, I wipe the app off my screen....

I never faces this situation. If not AW I suppose it's possible but would require the full monty: alliance troops, best mercenaries and several protect tactic
