On a scale of 1 to 10, how was your experiences raiding Oil? Like with your regular army (no crazy strats like the TH and the infamous Night Witches)

1 being impossible and 10 being very easy
4 on EA
6 on IA
7 on GA

If french just add 1 because of training time
On a good day can loot 30-40k oil per training blessing

On a scale of 1 to 5 (because 1 to 10 systems always end up a "everyone chooses 7 because anything lower might as well be a negative") with 1 being completely annoying and 5 being acceptable:

Enlightenment age: 1 - Obviously an age that is not designed for grinding oil, get to industrial age for more oil if you want it.

Industrial age: 2 - Okay. You've got more oil now, which is nice. You still match in raids against enlightenments and industrials that are basically enlightenments though, so you come across a lot of 0 oil bases, which is still very annoying. Even raiding an enlightenment that does have oil can be an occasional waste of time. Even your reward for destroying all of an enlightenment's oil buildings is awful: it's 50 oil, wow. Your average oil raided is still something like 500 to 800 oil average, which is awful. If you want even more oil, upgrade to global.

Global age: 3 - Pretty much everyone you raid against has oil now, except the industrials that are basically enlightenments or the oddball 0 oil global players who are basically either crazy, age rushers, people with a ton of crowns, or cheaters without a clue of how the game works. Your average oil raided without going for precise picks on oil can easily be 1k+ oil now, which is a lot better.

Atomic age: 3 - Pretty much the global age experience, but even more oil. Average oil from just aimlessly raiding can waver from 1k oil a raid to something like 5k+ oil on the loaded base. Oil wells can rake in about 5k+ oil every ten hours with an oil blessing, Amelia research, and max current level oil wells, which is also a nice passive benefit. Means you make about 80k average oil a week doing literally nothing.

'' 80k average oil a week doing literally nothing''
Don't forget losing roughly 50k a week also doing nothing! :D

You have to be selective about the bases you hit but with a TB or two you can raid 60-100k in a day or two, depending on the age AND medals you play.

When we aren't having back to back oil sales ruining the oil economy (and new units with fresh tactics lol) I can get usually 50-60k oil per training blessing. Personally I find this method with raiders quite dull so I avoid it unless necessary and try to hit easier bases back to back with a full army.

Btw is everyone else struggling to find oil lately? I'm blaming the sales, and the helicopter.

pretty easy.
raiders + wall miners + training blessing poorly designed base= lots of oil in short time.

Indeed, there is more oil as you progress. Global is better than industrial etc. I am Global at 1000 medals and about 1k per raided base is what I get. That said, you need much more oil for your library and armoury upgrades so oil is still a very precious resource.

I am not using the 'raiders and engineers' strategy though, even being the French with fully upgraded troops and with the training blessing. It takes you 5 min to train 9 engineers and 30 raiders. Then you need to next a lot of bases to find one with 4K+ oil worth going after (do not forget, a lot of oil may sit in the wells which you may or may not be able to hit). These bases are usually extremely well thought through with clever openings in walls that lead your engineers to kill zones. If I lose all engineers I do not deploy raiders, of course, and it takes more time to retrain the ingénieurs.

Bottom line - I rarely get more than 25k oil an hour with raiders and you need to go on until you have enough oil to start your upgrade else one of these atomic 220 level players will take you to cleaners and if he is considerate to his other buddies he will not give you a peace treaty so you will be revenged by a string of these guys pronto.

I have also seen plenty of dead engineers and abandoned motorcycles on my base to know that it does not work for others either. Now I just collect oil as I play along with a regular army. When I get to about 100k a massive Brit comes along with tank destroyers and 9 field howitzers and 4 supply trains and 5 strike fighters and god knows how many shooters and makes me feel good about my base for 3 minutes 30 seconds. As the result, at least I then get a very long peace treaty and, on occasion, I revenged on them with engineers and raiders for some cash back.

I don't do anything special until I hit about 70k oil, then I set aside 2 or 3 hours to do back to back training blessings. I hit every base, maybe just sniping the oil wells around edges, or if there is more than 2.5k oil going for the refinery, or if it is an easy base destroying it for diamonds and national trade goods. If I lose a lot of troops, I use crowns to rebuild my army. Doing this I get 12 to 15 attacks per hour, and 20k to 30k oil. I do this when a building or troop upgrade that needs oil Is discounted, and 100 to 110k oil is all I need.

I don't use the raider/engineer strategy because it's boring. Plus you don't generate any diamonds and NTGs.

Indeed, this what I tend to do too. I convert diamonds to oil so every little helps.

>It must not be too bad getting Oil then...

Nope, it's still a chore of a grind if you want to be churning out a lot of oil upgrades in anything more than a week.

Raiders and engineers certainly does work, very well in fact. Sending in engineers unprotected is bad strategy and if you changed that I think you'll see better results. I'm consistently hitting bases with max walls and defences as long as I can spy a weakness.

Interesting, but I am finding it more and more difficult to find bases with a significant amount of oil. At global age, trying to save 200k oil is very, very difficult.

It's mostly because we've had a slew of 50% oil discounts which a lot of people are likely taking advantage of, because the oil production rate is so low and a lot of people don't upgrade their oil wells the in game economy takes quite a while to recover. It should go back to normal a couple of weeks after these sales finish.

It's very very easy ... Because i changed my definition of easy :p

Play 3-4 hours a day but in the bursts of 20 -30 mins here and there.
expect 25k oil to be raided overnight while sleeping . On some days when only 10k oil is looted you feel lucky/happy.
oil events - wait for them. Waiting comes easily to dominations players .

u see, it's all in the mind .

Oil is scarce because there are fewer oil wells, and only one refinery causing players to protect it better. I use a 1:100 ratio to determine equivalency of oil to gold/food and that works pretty nicely for me. The important thing is to find sinks (walls and generals are great!) to invest your resources into, so that less is available for opponents to raid.

In EA, I used to get 10K-20K oil per training blessing. Now in IA, I get 30K-50K per training blessing. It all depends on my medal count though.

I lose only around 2K-3K per peace treaty, because once I'm at 60K or so, I push hard to raid the remaining oil I need to sink into whatever upgrade I'm focusing on.
