Idea to speed up early age progress

Hi,

It’s been a regular comment on the forum about the need to bring through player’s to the later ages more swiftly. This is beneficial to both players and bhg.

The ability to do this already exists having been built by bhg with the ‘of the ages blessing.’

Bhg has already demonstrated its ability for targeted offers, such as the Sphinx Artifact offer. So why not not offer this blessing to all pre atomic players at the start of each month? It has a shelf life built in already, make this till the end of the month. Offer it for say $10 each month? (Yes, I already know the comments/laughter at bhg selling something this price will engender on here...)

You’ve then effectively monetised early game players, getting them used to spending on the game, with minimal cost to bhg and brought them through faster to the higher spending ranks. Commercial logic 🤑, which does make me wonder what I’ve missed that you’ve not already done this?

Like many older players they will have spent to speed their progress, albeit far less. However older players will still have a major museum/University advantage as the blessing doesn’t affect those aspects of the game, thus preserving the benefit of being a long time dedicated player.

For those wondering, I’ve played the game since it started, have space age and atomic accounts, so I’ve no skin in the game on this one bar wanting the game to prosper and see new players develop.

Regards,

Alt

This is an excellent idea. My only reservation is the need to spend money while the game is in it’s current state, but I’ve stated my feelings numerous times on this issue to no avail. That aside, and trying to remain pragmatic, it would seem like a sensible opportunity for BHG/Nexon while topping up the numbers in the higher ages.

I'd go further than that, I'd reduce upgrade times in each age below current by 5% incrementally. So currently Cold War players would have 5% time reduction, Atomic Age would have 10%, etc., down to Iron Age at 45%, and all that would go up by another 5% when Digital Age is out. Or at least offer it during summer/winter rush events.

Excellent idea, but that would deplete the first Ages players pool which could be catastrophic for the game.

Could always increase food/gold and NTG for single player missions to help the early-age players advance.

Or adjust the rewards given for completing startup achievements (mills to level 2, market to level 2, etc.)

I'd assume there'd be enough dead/abandoned accounts in the early ages to provide enough targets for new players to raid/loot.

Resources are not the issue, it's time. Time to advance to Cold War and Space Age is insane, it takes years. So 2 way to speed it up, reduce times or reduce worker requirements in earlier ages.

Nobody in Iron Age needs a 45% time slash. Where it is needed is in ages from Gunpowder to Atomic or even CWA, when levels need to be gained. Ages under GPA should be cut, but they take almost no time compared to the ones after.

Agreed.

It's shocking that something hasn't been implemented to help new players get through the earlier ages faster.

Or make a leader in the Uni that allows speeding up of building upgrades. They can stagger this person so that GP gets a speed boost on day Mortars and Redouts, EA gets garrisons and Stables, IA gets towers and sniper towers, GA gets bunkers, fort, and silo, AA gets mills and markets... something like that where you can keep adding say a 10% discount on time based on Uni Research.

smart people would do the research...

I think it would be better having the speedups or whatever added into the game for lower levels much more blatantly, like some sort of package for new players as their account is created without enough speedups to finish everything in the first age. After aging up, another package would be given to the new player to do the same thing for their second age, or perhaps to cover a significant portion of building/research time for that age.

This type of thing is what I've seen done in other games. New players that can grow fast tend to get more 'into' the game - that's what happened to me.

Playing a game where I've got no chance at ever even getting close to the big dogs just doesn't appeal.

I agree. Upgrade times in the early ages are short enough up to GP or even IA. 10+ day upgrades are where we need reductions. At the very least allow AA onwards to research time reductions in the Uni or library. As our civilizations improve, shouldn't our improved technology make us more efficient?

Why do we need to speed along more players to the top ages? We need to have active players at all ages in order to attract and retain new players. Speeding players along to the top ages creates too much boredom at the lower ages and people would quit before they reach those upper levels.

Make Archive produce speed ups too. Let's say 30 minutes speed up every day or more. That will be interesting! Or maybe 5 minutes speed up per hour accumulatively!
