As the title says, having a building that can call in air support would give a significant buff to the defensive facet of the game while also shaking up the current meta. Similar to artillery on defense, air support could wipe out an archer spam army if not delt with quickly either through targeting or sabotage.
My idea is to have them fly from the edges of the map after a fair delay where the base is calling for backup, their primary target to be the attacking aircraft to introduce a dogfighting mechanic to the game where if the defence wins it will then target ground troops. Perhaps to balance this the defensive planes would not have the attack multiplier but rather a slowing effect that is essentially a harsh penalty ensure a non complete victory. A balance in favor of attackers could also be to increase the aircraft limit.
I feel that this will bring the significance of air superiority to the forefront of battles with how the game is progressing into the modern age.
