New German needs help!

One more thing is - in war attacks it is good to go with Mongols since it gives nice boost of increased attack speed for morta unit and cannons.
And beeing German using it it is good to have troop composed of:
3-4 mortar units (with Mongols and teutonic fury they are awesome)
3 -4 cavalries or 2 tanks
3 healing carts
around 35 shooters
cannons
Splash damage of mortars with teutonic fury combined with increased attack speed from Mongols really helps in easier gaining 5 stars at bases with Acropolis, and Colosseum combo.
Even more if both are combined with Angkor Wat

I've been German since I started. In lvl 153 IA, I'm using 5 tank, 5 art, 3 healers, 20 rifle, and 4 grunts for clean up (they really chew through stuff). Add in 3 biplanes, 1 protect, 2 sabotage, and 2 betrayal. I use the same set up for war and MP. I 5 star pretty much anything I take on.
The nice thing about frequent rally is that you can use it for smaller actions ie. rallying my 4 grunts on a Colosseum or fort to take it down almost instantly before my main attack begins.

Germans teutonic fury combines really well with donated Greek or French tanks and your own Brandenberg Gate.
One of our German players has almost maxed out his base at Industrial and has still not bothered to pursue building an airstrip because of the rewards to be found in heavy tank Mk2 and buff generals.
A word of caution on pursuing German tanks. These are the weakest most lightly hitting bullet magnets in the game. It is just not worth Germans fielding tanks when artillery is available.
Your friend may be better off building one heavy tank and the rest artillery shooters and supply trucks, while relying on trusty allies to keep le escargot tanks coming
