Greetings leaders! I hope everyone is having a good summer/winter (depending on where you are). Here at Big Huge Games, we have kept busy working on new features and content, as well as fixing bugs (trust me, they bother us more than they bother you). We really appreciate all the feedback and are actively considering solutions for problems that you uncovered (such as the Armory getting clogged up, more Medal and Glory incentives, and Factory troop usefulness, amongst other various balance issues).
It’s exciting for us that the Great Leaders feature at the University is finally in the hands of players. It’s something that we talked about for a long time and that the team worked on over the last several months through many iterations. Personally I’m really excited to get boosts to my troops (Archer Damage and Archer Health are really nice for my British army). Through the first few weeks, it appears that King Sejong is the most popular amongst players, but there are quite a few skills across the different leaders that are quite powerful. We also have many leaders in the works, so keep researching skills and upgrading your University!
For our most recent update, we added Victory Chests, General Churchill, the S.A.M. Battery trap, and chapter 5 Library technologies. The Victory Chest should make battles more rewarding - I know I’m already enjoying it. As for Churchill, while we already have 6 other Generals, we did want to add a Global Age one, and you can expect a feature in the near future that will allow for an additional use of your Generals. He also just looks really great in his tank! For anyone in Industrial or Global Age, you know the power of airplanes, so the S.A.M. Battery will help keep your base safer against air attacks. The chapter 5 Library techs should keep your Library busy for the foreseeable future. Some of my favorites new techs include: Resistance ch. 5, which gives you defensive Flammpanzer when your Mercenary Camp is destroyed; Banners ch. 5, which gives you an additional 15 seconds to earn a quick victory; and Exploration ch. 5, which gives you an extra Gold Mine.
As for upcoming new features, there are two I’d like to talk about briefly. The first is Expeditions. This is a new system at the Dock that allows players to send their citizens out on missions to faraway lands and get rewarded with resources, troops, and a few other surprises. We are finishing this one up now, so it should come out in the not too far future. The second feature I’d like to talk about is Atomic Age. This is the next new age in the game that follows Global Age. That means there will be a whole new host of new troop, tactic, and building upgrades. We are working on a new system specifically for Atomic Age, but I can’t reveal any details about it yet. However just to give you something to think about - we will be adding Helicopters to the game, and they will have a bit different mechanics than other air troops, making them useful for new strategies. We are still a few months away from releasing Atomic Age, but it should be out before the end of the year.
Okay, that’s all for this update. If there are other things that you’d like to hear about, feel free to post replies here, and I’ll try to make sure those topics get covered in future messages to the community. As always, we appreciate your support and value your opinions. Keep on DomiNating!
