Defense is solid.

Tip to increase road connection efficiency:
1.Connect roads to both sides of your TC, like this
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrTCrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
so your TC can play a role as road extension to free some more roads to let other buildings connect.
2. Put 5X5 big road consuming buildings at the corner by just touch 1 little piece to the road.

If you had high enough gold to be worth losing an army over, I would storm with infantry by your mercenary camp, and rally to your gold chamber. I would be surrounded and take a beating, but all your gold would be mine! If you split your gold into separate chambers, I'd probably have a harder time.

so i put my gold into two different chambers and switched my balista to down there with garrisons for protection. going to move spike traps down there as well i think. what you think of the new design? is it better or worse and shouid i put balista back?

I would put the gold bldgs in the center surrounded by as high level walls as you can afford. I wouldn't use any gates as they facilitate entrance. Then surround your centered gold bldgs with defenses.

That said, attackers will still get some gold from your TC and whatever your caravans drop. You'd have to collect fairly frequently.

This is a good idea. Use as many walls as you can to protect your markets and wall off defenses around them. And as far as I am concerned, I would pass you by even if your mills were all the way in the corner without a single tower to protect them. You only need food for a few things and you'll get enough from raiding while you're already on a mission to find gold, if only to upgrade walls. Everyone's got a surplus of food. You only really need it more than gold a few days after you advance an age, up your barracks, then a few blacksmith upgrades and that it. Gold you need always. Leave the mills out in the open, let raiders have them. I hunt for gold in 99/100 attacks, maybe more, no exaggeration.
