As stated in the title, I noticed the Versailles slowing aura still works after you destroy it? Is this just my belief or are other people seeing this too? I blew up a Versailles and rallied elsewhere, but my guys looked really really slow.

I haven't built a GP wonder yet, should I be going for the Angkor Wat heal, Versailles HP + slow or the Taj Mahal trade good?

1) Taj doesn't seem like it will be too good until Industrial, when you can get a free flamepanzer merc everyday worth 3 diamonds and 7 wine for a total of 10 valuable trade goods (more valuable than leather and fur, that's for surE).

2) Angor Wat heal looks very large radius and strong with cavalry and generals, although mine aren't very high level yet.

3) Versailles 10% HP is quite good offensively, considering that the Lancer to Cuirassier upgrade itself, costing almost 6MM food, only gives around 10% bonus hp. 6534+594 HP from the upgrade. For non-cavalary units, the 10% hp is definitely more than any upgrade... Plus, as mentioned, the seemingly enduring effect of the Versailles slow even if it's killed, makes it like some super caltrops

Thanks for making this topic Versailles is the offensive choice and Angor Wat the defensive choice.

Yes, Versailles keeps its effect even if destroyed.

As for your Gunpowder Age wonder, there are many things to consider, like your nation, game style, other Wonders, and most importantly, what you want to get out of it.

For instance, my nation's Japanese, hence the focus on defense. I have both Acropolis and Colosseum, making the most logical choice Angkor Wat. (Colo to produce defenders, Acro to buff them, Angkor to heal them.) The trade goods I get from Angkor Wat, I spend usually on blessings, sometimes on Mercs.

Now if you're focusing primarily on offense, Taj Mahal offers free merc and higher loot.

If you play both side of the field, Versailles gives 10% boost to your team, making it good for offense/defense. The slow effect works, despite the ptitful radius.

If you want pure defense, Angkor Wat heals 20% every 3 seconds, and with its larger radius can cover a lot of ground. (Pretty solid if you've got lots of defending Knights or Soldiers.)

Hmm, I'm Chinese right now with Notre Dame and Hanging Gardens... both are just economic, and not really focusing on offense or defense. I am mostly just farming at low medals with cavalry + mixed army. Do you think Versailles would fit in there?

Versailles is good for offensive. If you are a farmer, choose something else that helps you boost economy or defend your base.

Yup. Versailles would be a fine addition to that. The typical wonders acquired by those focusing on the economy would be either be a resource generating one (HG, SH, or Pyramids) followed by Notre Dame for reduced upgrade/research costs. Now since both leave out defense/offense options, Versailles comes in to do just that. You don't even have to defend it for it work.

What about Angkor Wat? If it was destroyed, would the heal effect still around? I didnt notice it.

Angkor Wat has a bigger area of effect, but only works if it isn't destroyed. If you plan on using it, better keep it safe, usually in the center of your layout. (I did.)

Versailles just begs for French nation. You may also consider if you're going to change your nation/wonders in the future. In the very end game only attack/defense matters and I am sure that versailles is the best choice for french/greek at any case, but for chinese nation which has a little bit of everything, angkor may be an option if you plan to change your wonders later on. HG looks pretty useless to me while notredam may easily expire.

BTW, Taj merc is random. So you might get a free flamepanzer.

Ah, you don't even get to choose which one you want? That makes it much worse... I was thinking Taj would be OK if you could keep picking flamepanzer everyday

Ah, then that would make Taj TOO GOOD, don't you think? The trade goods I get from Angkor Wat are random too. Sometimes I get diamonds, sometimes I don't.

Versailles AOE should be increase bcz it was too small until no effect at all for expanding base.

Just one reason why people are ditching Versailles for Angkor Wat. The other is that AW comboes well with high level Generals - healing 20% of their health every 3 seconds makes them almost unkillable in combat.
