From my impression, Versailles has two effects.

1) 40% slow. This affects nearby units in an AOE. The area is small, but this essentially makes one small section of your city a murder zone that nobody would want to attack.
2) +10% troop HP. This is a persistent effect that affects all troops much like an upgrade.

That being said, I am not too big a fan of Angkor Wat. There is a tendency for troops to focus fire. And let's be honest, when you're getting hit by 30 units, you won't stay damaged for 3s. You would only get coincidental heals. Even in an 8 vs 80 solution, your best spread is 10 units hitting you simultaneously. Even a horseman goes down in a moment.

Hi mnswlee: does it's effect to our troop in barracks?, or only effect to defenders.

When attacking, I find Angkor Wat far more annoying than Versailles. I'm usually attacking above my level, so the troop counts are a lot more equal. Seeing those damn little green crosses every few secs is a sure sign I'm in for a bad outing.

In Versailles' defense, think of it as roughly equivalent to ~100 level 3 caltrops (minus the dmg penalty) covering a roughly 13-unit diameter circle. Its bonus does not depend on the placement of other buildings or the presence of defending troops. Slowing down attacking troops gives your defenders more time to spawn, and the more time spent wading through the circle means less overall time available for attacking buildings.

I'm still medieval, but I've searched this out in several discussions. For what it's worth, general consensus seems to be that Versailles is the least disappointing among the dumbest wonders of the game. Half of these also add not to build any of them! As for me, I think I'll wait to see what future updates may bring before deciding.

Do you guys really believe that choice of Wonders adds any significant difference to your game ? So, just choose the one whose architecture looks more beautiful to your eyes. In real world - •Haven't visited Versailles yet. •Taj Mahal is okay. But certainly not that beautiful as it look in the Pics. It has lost its 50% beauty to the air pollution & bad maintenance. •Angkor Wat is a real beauty. Its the biggest spirtual monument of the world. Its magnificence & massiveness is unexplainable.

Initially, I chose my Wonders based on their beauty. I took Hanging Gardens and Forbidden City. However, it didn't take long for me to regret my choices. My alliance members were laughing at me. I had to spend 1200 crowns to rectify my choices.

Traumatized by the incidents, I'm already in mid-GP age but I have yet to decide on the 3rd Wonder.

As for whether the Wonders contributed any difference, while not significant but they do help out a little. Some help is better than none.

Go with Versailles then. Its seems to be the best out of 4.
Slowing down attackers will give your defenders more time to reach their targets. Slowing down attackers = more time consumption for em.
More HPs of Defenders = even more time consumption for attackers.

But slowing down attackers also makes it harder for them to star me and therefore, making me vulnerable to multiple attacks because of not easily getting peace treaty.

Well don't put the wonder till you reach max gunpowder age. Cuz if you make a choice considering current situation then you are gonna regret it later, as the game is all about medal count.
