Hi!
What is your opinion or best strategy about the position of defensive buildings in your City? Where is the best place for the Towers, Mortars, Canon Towars Garrisons, Stables, Fort, TownCenter etc.?
I know, no mater how strong is your City, there's always a stronger worriors who win easy against you BUT - do you have some tactic or good strategy about positioning defensive buildings to make enemies more difficult to win?
Best Regards!

I regularly get 3 crowns via defense. Of course I lose a lot of resources too, but that can be recovered via looting in the offense. I have a few tactics when it comes to defenses. (am in IA)

- chaotic (asymmetric) layout that hopes to confuse attackers
- TC is placed outside, oil refinery in side the city walls and walled again to defend against quick raiders
- air defenses packed around the oil refinery
- tank cannons right next to the bunker to be able to counter betrayals quickly
- angkor is placed in the city for healing of defenders
- acropolis is squeezed in a corner just outside the city wall in range of tanks and bunker to reduce their spawn time

Attackers on my base are usually with some tanks, more hoiwzers, supply trucks and some troops. Also planes. But if I place the Anti-Tank Guns outside or nearby the walls they will be a easy target. The mortars also...

I like to think those buildings with the largest attack ranges should be closer to center of the base. I like to keep all of my spawning buildings under my Acropolis effect range. I like for my Angkor Wat to heal defenders all around, not just on one side (base edge is a waste of this wonder imo). I also like to buffer my defensive buildings that cannot be walled up with farms or other eco buildings so the attacking force gets shot atleast once before said building gets destroyed.

The one thing no one has mentioned yet is the use of mills and markets. They are high hit point buildings meaning if you can put them where troops will waste time clearing them while under attack from mortars or other defensive buildings that's best. Also it's always preferable to put mortars in pairs 4 spaces apart. You want to have two mortars firing on defenders at once if possible.

Do you put mortars and canon inside walls or do you place 1 or 2 outside?

In my opinion, mortars need to be wrapped in walls, make your opponents work harder to kill the defenses.
