Japanese town-center vs guerilla

Let's get this straight.
The Japanese town-center's unique ability is to fire at defenders like a defensive tower.

The guerilla, an enlightment age unit, is not targeted by towers, redoubts or mortar directly, unless other troops nearby trigger splash damage. However, he does alert enemy stables/tank factories as well as garrisons.

Then why on earth is the Japanese town-center shooting at my guerilla?
I've contacted customer support, but their guidance is useless by telling me that it behaves like a tower.

More than likely a developer oversight. Much in the same reason they say Japanese TC is supposed to behave like a tower but it doesn't shoot at planes. It's more like a tower that attacks ground troops near it. But it's not coded to make exceptions to what units it attacks like a guerrilla or ninja.

Denquin - that post says the TC doesn't attack air units - l take that to mean it attacks everything else. Since l don't use guerilla units that's good enough for me. I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you. (well, I'm not really .....)
