Lost Connection While In Own City

I've recently experienced a few loss of connections while in my own city which has caused me to lose my whole army. Now I understand why your army is lost when attacking and lose connection. But why do yiu lose your army when in your own city.

Anyone else have the same issue.

The connection seemed fine, however the main point isn't about the connection itself. But how when you are in your own town and choosing which troops to build you should not loose all your troops if you lose your connection.

How can you tell if you do lose a connection? Spinny gold thing?

My usual sign is when I click on the alliance chat and the chat doesn't update.
