As a rule of thumb, I think each "Age" should have twice as many "specials" as the Age before it. Special troops, buildings resource generators, defenses, traps, library research items, special unique items, decorative items, etc. As it is now, the upper levels of the game, with the vastly increased resources needed for even minor improvements, leads to long periods of stagnation, boredom, and lack of meaningful opponents. I'm not sure I want to advance any further than Gunpowder Age. I see an awful lot of high-level players complaining about how bored they are. That leads to a loss of interest, and then they quit to play other games.
