S_How Hey I only reacted to the previous person who said "as a mid IA I can 5* atomic"

I'm actually quite aware of the state of things at endgame, I've seen plenty of youtube vids of AA vs AA war attacks, including top alliances. That does not change my opinion on this subject. You, and many forum posters with you, sometimes seem to think your opinion is the only good opinion, and that everyone else merely needs to be convinced. This is not the case. I do consider the opinion of everyone, and see this thing from all angles. That does not mean that I will share that opinion.

I'm ok with everything but not with the tactics thing. The tactics should remain as they are.

You should use the updates to fix some problems. THIS GAME IS becoming an UNBALANCED one. The system to get free crowns is giving advantages to some people by giving them the chance to have some offers while other don't or even worst by blocking them from having any offer (giving a stupid excuse). People are having the option to advance more and have more resources than other players. Everyone should have the same opportunity to improve their game equally. You're not creating this problem but allowing it and I don't see any Nexon people talking about this.

New Update Optimism

Hello Dominators,

At first glance the information surrounding the new update had me quite upset. However, after letting it sink in for some time, I've come to find a sense of optimism around it all.

This new update is a huge buff to defenses, and a big nerf to offenses. On that note, what we have nerfed are our war tactics. In return, all other offensive tactics/troops/research gets a big buff. This means that our recently nerfed planes, are now much more tactically advantageous. They will be much more important now that our tactics have been effectively cut in half. University research has been buffed, as any buffed troops are now much more important with the loss of our tactics. It's important to see it from this perspective. Yes, our tactics got screwed, but this was a big buff to other time/oil intensive upgrades such as Generals, Factory troops, University/Library research, and Planes.

Does this make sense to you folks as well? I'm an optimist in most avenues of life, and when I look at it from this perspective, it almost doesn't seem so bad. The hundreds of thousands of oil I've put into my planes and airstrip now seem much more worth the high price tag.

This new update also simultaneously buffs the effects of Statue of Liberty - as planes will be a much bigger asset now. Wall upgrades will be more valuable. Everything else has become much more valuable as our tactics have become less valuable.

What are your guys' lingering thoughts? Did anything in this post make you see this new update from a new perspective? How have your future upgrade plans changed as a result of our tactic nerf?

What Buff?.

Nope, they'll die more often as you won't be able to sabotage defenses. If my planes are low on HP, I use sabotages on their way out of the map.

University research has been buffed

No it doesn't, but it does double the effectiveness of Brandenburg Gate!.

What ever is you're smoking, please share it with the rest of us.

Yes, University research will be added for airplanes. But we don't even know what that research will be. It could well include SAMs and Air defense. Then there's the Enlightenment players LOL.

Yeah, I'm not following how planes get a buff, and why anyone would use the statue of liberty when you can get 33% more tactics by going with the brandenburg gate. I'm a statue of liberty user right now, and I see the brandenburg gate as the only option after the update.

I don't have Fyber offers and I don't think it matters, the crown cost of anything is too high.

The only time it will matter is if they have another 'Mystery Present' event where you can effectively buy Troop Tactics for crowns.

What happens at Fyber is out their control, but i've played other games that allow you to chose multiple offer providers (Tapjoy etc)

True, this is another thing that I didn't think of. Tactics will be a smaller portion of your offensive strength, therefore everything else will be a larger portion. So indeed, all other offensive upgrades will be more important than they are now.

Statue of Liberty is getting nerfed though, because Brandenburg Gate's free tactic will be a must have after the patch.

"Currently, according to our data and play experience, attackers have a strong advantage, especially in later Ages"

I wonder how this will effect the Enlightenment or lower age players? With No Brandenburg gate or decoy, it could hurt them the most in war. They already lack airplanes to deal with defensive coalition troops...

If an Enlightenment Age player has to attack an Industrial Age player in war, they have no planes to do deal with the Heavy Tanks either. The won't be able to use Betrayal on the Heavy Tanks as they'll need to Sabotage the TC, Fort or Stronghold. You could have maxed EA players fail against low level IA players.

Really? This is it?Then why do they punish us. I still do not understand it, nobody can tell us the main cause.
If the problem is that the offense is stronger than make the defense buildings more effective. I can't beleive that any devs played with their game.
For sure it will kill this game, the people will leave. It was a habbit, a kind of good strategy but I need the change it. I did not spend any efforts to other tactics, because those are not my style.
Still, I think Nexon should think about the effectiveness of the defense building.

I dont particularly like it, but I also could try to see the benefit of it too. However, I think for many people, it is the cumulative effect of this update...really hurts many teams in war between sandbagging, reduced offense capability, etc. This is at least the way it is for me.

Having offers is a very important thing. Earning crowns will give you a boost to improve your game. It's true that Fyber controls but they work for Nexon (I think). So they can call their attention by what they are doing to the game.

You say you don't have any offer. That means that any other player that have offers have a greater chance to improve than you. You think that's fair?

Nexon should add more options to earn crowns since fyber is giving offers to some players and blocking others.

While I'm still playing the game I have stopped spending any money on it and when the tactics update comes out I'll likely stop participating in wars as they will now be an even bigger resource sink, even on a win.

I'll continue to farm easy bases and build my own city in regular multi-player for as long as I find that fun but my gut feeling is that between them selling the bazooka tower and cutting our tactics in half I've reached the beginning of the end of my time in DomiNations..

I guess if you feel that watching some youtube videos qualifies you to to have a good opinion on how this will affect later age play, you are entitled to that and we can disagree which is fine. Not trying to force opinion on you, just feel that you might have a different viewpoint if you actually experience the gameplay this will impact the most.

Part of the challenge I see, is the very uneven progression of defense through the ages. When they rebalanced it in atomic, they didnt make it gradual, nearly all of the defense balancing took place by really huge boosts to AA buildings. Pre AA, I could see a balancing effect of tactic reduction, etc...but in AA it will essentially require troop cards to do well if they make this change, and it will really hurt teams with any sort of level disadvantage, which is a major issue with the ubiquitous use of sandbagging in later ages.

There are no buffs (or at least announced buffs). You are right that it will change the relative importance of various upgrades but all that means is that it will be even more expensive to attack a well put together base (as you lose more troops, planes, etc).

For me it means that I'll no longer participate in wars it is going to cost more then I am willing to spend and I'll likely drift away from the game when I become board with knocking over dead bases for resources.

I don't buy crowns (admittedly I brought the second starter pack, but that's it), I don't need crowns except for changing nation/ wonders.

I accept that Nexon is a business and exists to make money, I'm happy with the hare and tortoise approach as i'm a grinder. If people want to spend money to advance in the game, it's their choice and I don't begrudge them. No amount of offers from Fyber will help me keep up with the heavy spenders, it's just how it is..

What I don't like is the troop tactics which give players a huge advantage, no matter how many years of effort I put into the game, I can't complete with them. In Boom Beach I know that at some point I might be able to challenge the top players without spending money, it's just going to take a long time.

What I dislike even more, is the Pay To Win element in a game being increased to the point that it becomes Pay to Play. Changing the game so that it's difficult for even the spenders means i've got no chance. All i'm using since going Global is Heavy Infantry, hitting inactives as the retraining cost vs food gained is too high.

The people that having offers should be important to is Nexon, it's $$$ they are missing out on.

I think now we all understand the recent inbox message about Expeditions being available with no resource cost.

Internal Chat at BHG HQ:

Boss, We've got this great idea to make lots of money, lets introduce a defensive building which allows people to donate troop tactics for defense. The spenders will have to buy so many troop tactics, we'll be rich.

A few weeks later...

Boss, internal data shows that people are just Sabotaging the Stronghold. Boss replies: lets take away the Sabotages! we'll be Rich!.

A little while later...

Boss, Those fools on the forum are still complaining about sandbagging, do you think we should fix it? Boss replies: Are you Joking? It's our spenders who are the main sandbaggers, god forbid that Korea Army might drop out of the top 10. Wait a few more months and do another design spotlight saying we've fixed it. Those lemmings will suck it up and keep playing.

A little while later...

Boss, it seems we're making less money as for some unknown strange reason we're hemorrhaging players. Boss: We need more troop sales pronto! Lets also introduce this really OP building that one hit kills entire armies, they'll have to buy it to compete! We'll be Rich!
